I got great advise from everyone for our St. Augustine trips last year, so I thought I'd ask for some advise on a DC trip. We are going 8/31 to 9/7.

We have booked the Lowes Madison for a week for $125 a night-happy with it. We plan on driving as we have a stop to a friend on the way up and a dif one on the way back.

I new the parking was expensive and thought it said $35/night, but now I can't find that, called the hotel and they said $50!

Are there any other options like parking garages and such? I saw on trip advisor that someone had parked across from hotel George , 10/20 minutes away?, for only $22/ night. I think that's worth it but DH doesn't like the idea.

Any suggestions from those who live around there or been there?

Thanks!

You could park at Ronald Reagan National Airport for $14 a day in economy parking and then take the Metro from the airport to the hotel.

Now, I would consider that. I just can't get around $350 + tax to let the car sit. I have no interest in trying to drive around DC. I just hope we can find the hotel!

YES THIS!! We did this in March and I can't tell you how easy it was. The DC Metro is so very easy to use and pretty much the only way to see the city. Having a car is a hassle in my honest opinion to use while visiting the sites. The Metro station that is connected to the airport couldn't be any easier to use. My one tip was don't be surprised at how long (tall) the escalators are in some of the Metro stations...it was freaky at first and a pita if someone pushed the stop button...

Hey I just looked their website and the fee for valet is $50 but could not find a rate for self parking so I used the chat funtion and found out that the rate for self parking is $13. Here is a copy of the chat session

Tim J.: [4:51:55 PM] Hello and thank you for visiting Loews Madison - Washington D.C. How may we help you today?
Shelly: [4:51:55 PM] What is the fee to self park?
Tim J.: [4:52:12 PM] $13 without in and out privileges
Shelly: [4:52:39 PM] Is the garage right at your hotel or is it an offsite location
Tim J.: [4:52:58 PM] At our hotel

Yah! You are a life saver and I will do the same so I have it on record!!!
