Do many of you make shirts for your trips? I'm trying to make look alike shirts for my friends and I who are going on a 'Girls Only' visit for our first Christmas trip (right after Thanksgiving) this year. I'm enjoying it, but it's a lot more work than I anticipated and more difficult than I expected it to be. Have any of you done this and if so, what kind of materials did you use and were you happy with your results? Do you have any tips to share? My friends don't know what I'm doing and I'm hoping they turn out well enough for us to wear while we are on our vacation. I hope this is the right place for my questions/thread. Thanks.

I just got done making 60 shirts for our upcoming trip. I made them for our trip last year and my kids are still wearing them this summer. I bought a lot of our tshirts from Jiffy shirts. The have lots of colors and sizes and I received them standard shipping the next day. I always use Avery transfer paper, because I can get it from Walmart when I need it. I know a lot of people also use Amy's transfers, you can google to find hers. I also only use the dark transfers and cut them out really good.

I would look at the Creative DISIgn forum here on disboards for a lot of good information. There is a lot of good information in the sticky's.

Well, I made several shirts for this past August trip, but, I only use M_I_C_K_E_Y's transfers as I believe that they are the BEST:) I buy my shirts either from Jiffy if I need many in the same color or from AC Moore when they have them on sale for $ 4/10:) Amy's transfers priint perfect and they last a very long time..Good luck, and yes, if I can make shirts anyone can:)

Thank you both so much for your replys, but I'm not sure what you mean by transferring and DISigns. I did get my shirts from AC Moore on a good sale price; I only needed three shirts. I've plunged in. The characters so far are certainly not perfect and vary on each shirt, :rotfl: but you can easily tell who they are and I've started painted some of them. Right now I'm using paints that are an all purpose acrylic craft type of paint.
I've seen some really cool Mickey tye-dye shirts, but I've never done that and I'm afraid that I'll get dye all over the place (I'm a bit clumsy with things ).
I'm working on an AoA resort theme because that's where we're going to stay!
I can't imagine that you did 60 shirts, Stacy! That is absolutely :thumbsup2 amazing and I commend you for your artistic abilities!
Do you have to treat or iron the finished shirts before they are worn? Any other info will still be happily accepted. Thank you. :flower3:

On the iron on shirts the only thing you have to do is wash and dry them first so that they are preshrunk before you iron on the transfer paper.

I've checked this out, Stacy and they have me absolutely overwhelmed! The designs are beautiful. I love the name fill-ins and all of the other beautiful artwork. I have no idea how they make them or what you mean by 'transfers', but I want to learn all about all of this after my trip and the holidays are over.

Also, do not use fabric softner when you wash them.

Thanks for your info NoahDove (I like your name); I have started on my shirts and I'm working like crazy on them as it seems to be getting closer now. We're going at the end of Nov. and I know it will be coming before I know it! If my shirts turn out okay, I'll post a photo of them here.

Thank you both for your info and help.
