Just got back from our trip and had a great time. Stayed at Park Vue Inn and it was perfect for us. We rented a car and it was nice to have free parking. Staff was nice, breakfast was good and location was awesome. 12 year old DD liked it better than DLH, which shocked me. Started in the parks on Tuesday and the first 3 days weren't too busy. Tried to get our must haves done before the weekend and glad we did. Being a family of 3 paid off waiting for rides, Got pulled to front of the line on 3 different rides because they needed parties of 3. Friday went to Universal and DD loved the Harry Potter section. Spent so much time there we didn't get to do everything in the park. Saw all the shows but missed the rides in the lower level and the Despicable Me ride. They closed at 6, which seems so early.
Saturday was our day to do other things but wanted to get a few hours in the parks. Walking toward the security gates in the morning, we saw a sea of people and turned around. Figured we would come back later in the evening. That was a mistake. Wall to wall people on Main Street and we could barely move. Made it to Tomorrowland and decided to take the monorail during fireworks, thinking the park would clear out a little after they were over. It was cool seeing fireworks from monorail and we rode around twice but crowds were still there when we got off. So we left. Too tired to deal with the lines and waiting.
Sunday was a different story. We had a blast! Got there at opening and the parks were almost empty. We got on a ton of rides but the best part was breaking down in Space Mountain. So cool to see the ride with the lights on and walking off the ride. Luckily we weren't stuck on a hill. They gave us a pass good for any ride in either park. We used it to go on the dark version of Tower of Terror - way cool since the line was crazy long and no fastpasses for it. We loved it! Also saw WOC with low crowd, got there a few minutes before it started and had a great view at the railing with hardly anyone around us. I was shocked! With less crowds yesterday we were able to do our favorites multiple times too. We used fastpasses effectively and also got on Space Mountain again with a fastpass that was good for when they were broken down, but used it later in the night. Nice that they still honor those. Had a nice dinner at Cafe Orleans with a perfect view of fireworks. In fact, we enjoyed the fireworks in several locations during our 5 days there but our least favorite was viewing them from in front of the castle where the crowds are. That wasn't fun. Squeezed in like sardines and I couldn't see, especially when a dad moved in front of me during the show and then put his son on his shoulders. That was pretty rude.
Overall we had a great time and miss the weather already!
