Trip Report with Pix - AKV and OKW (Part 1)

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing, and glad you had a such a wonderful trip!

Wow, you take amazing pictures!

I know how your husband feels about the one bedrooms. We stayed in one for the first time this past June, and I can't tell you how many times I woke up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and found myself in the laundry area! :rotfl:

putnamds,

can you please let me know about how your transfer to okw mid-trip transpired? was there any hassle? so you call bell services first to pick up your luggage in your room and then do you load it youself onto the buses and then get them when you are ready to check into the next resort?

we are doing something similar to what you did, but we have okw first and then akv next so your input will really be appreciated.

thanks very much.

disney0210,

It was easier than I thought it would be. I called Bell Services. They came up to the room and tagged everything with their special tags they use for this purpose. Besides our suitcases, they even took my Owner's Locker, a case of water, and a box of food items. (Of course I didn't send anything that required freezing or refrigeration.) They did tell me that the transfers took place between 1 and 3 in the afternoon, so not to expect my luggage before that.

Once they left with our stuff, we took off on the bus for OKW with only the items we needed for the day (very little).

We checked in to OKW and I called Bells Services later in the day to have them deliver our stuff to the room.

It was all very smooth and easy. I will mention that our items did not arrive at OKW by 3, though - it was more like 5 or 6.

Thanks so much for posting those great pics:goodvibes
Glad you had a great trip.....leaving in almost 2 weeks can't wait:goodvibes

You mentioned you need more practice with the "mickey photo". What is that....do you put that on a camera lens?
Thanks
Kerri

The Mickey design (cut out) is on the balcony railings. I just took the photo through the opening in the design on the railing. Hmmmm...I just assumed that's how people took those photos. You can find that Mickey design cut out at so many places - I think that is how people are taking those photos...

Have a great trip!

I did the mickey head one too, and I ALMOST got building 55 in it! This was taken from building 46.

Your pictures are amazing. Your spectro pics came out sooooo well. Mine never do. What kind of camera/setting did you use? It looks like you had an amazing trip.

Thanks for the photo, Diane. Hope you don't mind I downloaded it for my collection. I was wondering what it looked like from that direction.

When I was on the boat it looked like the pine trees cover some of 55, so it seems like it might be hard to get a good shot of it.

Thanks again. Love OKW!

Okay, Ed, you might be surprised....but it is a pretty cheap GE 10.1 megapixel E1040. I got it when it was a Today's Special Value on HSN. I also have a nice Kodak digital camera, but I usually bring the cheap GE when I go to Disney because I feel like I don't have to worry about it getting lost or damaged. I do love the darn thing, though. It takes some nice pictures. For the parade, I just used the auto settings on the camera. When I got home, I brightened the pix up with PhotoImpact 12 software.

I am glad you enjoyed the photos. I love reading your posts. Your enthusiasm is catching!

What a horrible TR and bunch of pictures! We were just there in August and I already missed it, now here you come along and make me miss it even worse!;)

What a wonderful trip you had.:thumbsup2 We had a great time at OKW (I think we were in Bldg 54 - right across from the pool) and it is really great to relive it through your TR. We visited our "home" at AKV while we were there, but our first stay isn't until January, so that trip can't get here soon enough. I just submitted a request for Kidani for the end of June. We ate at Boma while we were there, which was great. Can't wait to try some of the others when we get back.

I was going to ask about your pictures of spectromagic and the castle, but you already answered that one in a PP. Great job on those!

Glad you had a great time!
