Part Two
Day Three
We were all pretty wrecked from the long day at DLP, but sleep was still elusive. In the middle of the night I heard a massive thud! S jumped out of bed, down our stairs, and up Js stairs, to find him on the floor - still fast asleep. Hed fallen out of bed! So, S got the mattress on the floor and lay down beside him and crashed out. When the alarm rang at 7 we were all still exhausted, so decided to go back to bed and take a relaxing morning, before going back to the park later. We had a lovely morning lounging around the pool. We also walked round to the village boulangerie and got some yummy baguettes for breakfast (WHY are the French so good at bread?). Much to sprogs delight we also found a couple of donkeys nearby, so we promised to revisit them with some apples on another day.
Anyway, ready to rumble again we decided to go to the Studio Park, as the guide book said, correctly, that its not quite so hectic. First we had a look at the Animation building this was ok, but the translation headphones were a bit crap, and the animation techniques were a bit beyond my smallie, so on we went.
We took a walk over to the flying carpets next, where there was no wait this is pretty similar to Dumbo, but my kid thought it was great.
S and I wanted to do Armageddon and the Rock and Roller-Coaster, so my dad took J into Cinemagique. They both loved it Jude turned to my dad at the end and said WOW granddad they dont have ANYTHING like that in Cork!. We, again, walked straight on to the R&R coaster we never saw any queues for this at all which surprised me, as it was one of my favourites! I thought the music was great, and I was screaming on the loops while laughing hysterically like a loon at the same time, which S found very funny! When we came out we made straight for Armageddon, and into the holding pen for a 15 minute wait. I thought they could have decorated the holding pen a bit, as it was a bit dull, but only a short wait. The folks next to us had a little boy of about 7 in with them Im afraid the effects were a wee bit too realistic for him and he freaked out a bit. I thought it was very good, I wont spoil the surprise for anyone who hasnt been.
J is a *huge* fan of cars / explosions / general mayhem [just like his dad
], so the Stunt show was next. We got there 20 minutes or so early, and ready for a sit down. We all loved this, J was goggle eyed throughout, although the finale frightened him a little [and me!]. I did wonder where the jet - skis in the movie came from though?
We walked round to the Studio Tram ride where we had a 10 minute wait. Again, we all liked this, especially catastrophe canyon! I also liked the London bit, as I lived there for years, and can quite imagine a post-apocalyptic disaster area like that [its called Croyden joke!
]
Anyway, by this time my dad was feeling a bit ill, and the Studios were closing, so we went for a sit down [and, yes, a beer] in the Village. As the evening cooled, my dad perked up a little, so we decided to have a stroll back into DLP as we werent ready to eat yet. The park was still pretty busy, so we just looked at a few shops and went on the paddle steamer Mark Twain. The adults enjoyed this, but J proclaimed it was too slow and boring kids, eh? We decided to leave the rides for another day as fatigue was setting in, so we strolled slowly back to the Village again, where we decided to go to Café Mickeys for dinner. It was around 9 and we had no reservation, but we only had to wait 5 minutes or so. While waiting we saw the wait staff put on a little show, and J had spotted the cartoons on the TVs, so he wasnt too happy to be directed upstairs where there are no TVs! The adults thought the view was beautiful though, and got some nice pics on the balcony. My dad was feeling a bit unwell again, and couldnt eat his dinner. Then we spotted Minnie at the back tables then Pluto! J wanted to run over, but I read it was better to let them come to you, so we waited. All we got was a fox from Robin Hood! Anyway, the waiter came out and was very concerned about my dad leaving his food. I think he also heard me saying it was a shame we didnt see Minnie and Pluto.
J then investigated, in great detail, the kiddie sweet trolley talk about delighted!! Just as he was settling down to his goodies, who should appear, but Tigger! Eventually he came over to us J was a little shy with him. Next thing, to our amazement, who should appear Mickey himself! By this time it was almost 11, and there were very few people left upstairs in the restaurant, so we pretty much had Mickey and Tigger to ourselves! They made a great fuss over J, and had him laughing hysterically ruffling my hair etc. Another kid, gave them a laser pen, and they played around with that for a while. Mickey even did a magic trick for J [making a napkin vanish], and they put some sweets in a napkin for later! In the excitement we didnt get their autographs, but we got some fantastic photos and video, and the whole thing was one of the highlights of our holiday - they must have been with us for 15 minutes! I did wonder whether the waiter tipped them off that a little entertainment at our table would be a good idea? Anyway, it perked all of us up, especially my dad! And of course J is now a HUGE Mickey and Tigger fan! And for anyone who is interested I had the ribs, which were yummy. I thought the food was quite dear, but the overall experience was priceless.
So, we went home, crashed out, and decided that we would take tomorrow off from the park, ready for the BIG Thrill rides on Wednesday!
