We just returned from our first DVC trip. After years of other Disney Resorts, Poly, Dixie, BC, CR, CBR and FW, we were extremely pleased with OKW! We stayed in a one bedroom in building 52. Our view was of a golf hole-3rd I think. We had a duck family visit every day.
On day one, I looked for the path to Downtown Disney and found it but I thought it was too dark to try. The next day, I went again and it had just been paved! You could walk all the way to Disney Quest (West Side) in about 20 minutes. There is also a path that cuts over to Saratoga Springs.
On the Trumbo Ferry, we were told that as soon as Saratoga opens, the pontoon boat will be replaced with the big boats like Port Orleans and will be shared between the two DVCs
My husband needed to write a report for work and had computer problems with his laptop. After calling around to find a suitable computer, we ended up driving to Kissimmee to the public library for the day. No high speed access yet at OKW but dial up AOL was only .35 per access with the phone line.
We did one comando day, Epcot at 8:00 am for Mission Space, it was great, then over to MGM for TOT and RRC. We were 2nd and 4th on the Millionaire and enjoyed the Great Movie Ride as usual. We lunched at the Sci Fi Dine In which was fun-it had been years since we had been there.
Then we headed over to the MK for the mountains, Haunted Mansion, Pirates and the Wishes fireworks. The fireworks were great! Tinkerbell looked different, all lit up on her flight. The crowds were light.
One of the best things about OKW was the fact that the buses were never crowded and the stops were very close at the parks.
We were used to standing room only on the Port Orleans buses.
We also loved Olivia's penne pasta.
We did have a newly refurbished room. New TV and DVD player which we used to watch Roger Rabbit and new appliances. We loved the garden tub and extra room. We were on the ground floor. The resort was fully booked, but it sure didn't seem like it!
We were there from Sunday, Mar 28 - Friday, April 2. We bought the April Fools Day pin, and the DVC Jiminy Cricket pin but had no luck finding the Tink DVC pin.
The only sad part was, our teenage boys were on a Habitat for Humanity build in South Carolina for an "Alternative Spring Break" . This trip was just my DH, DD and me. It was the foreshadowing of the empty nest!
We spent a day at Typhoon Lagoon, great weather, low lines, and a day wandering around resorts. I love to do that, we walked the long hallways of BWV just to see what all the talk is about! I could stand it!
One thing, I can't imagine where the slide will go at the main pool at OKW. There just doesn't seem to be enough room!

Glad to hear your first DVC trip was a hit!! Thanks for taking the time to write a report.

I love listening to experiences and memories. Makes me wish I was there!

Made me home sick,June seems so far away.Reports like these confirms to me we made a great investment in 1992.::yes:: :wave2:
