I was dropped off at a friend's house in La Mirada to work on a costume for Comic Con and my mom and sister Christine went off to DL for the first time together! I usually report when I physically go, but I wanted to share their short but nice experience!
They arrived around 6:30 p.m. after dropping me off. They first went to sit at the Coca-Cola place to eat a hotdog and watch the parade. Christine noticed across the way that the Matterhorn bobsleds weren't moving and wondered what happened. We've never been on a roller coaster ride that broke down and it must feel odd for it to suddenly stop!
After eating, they walked over to NOS to see how the line looked for POTC. Now, when they told me this, I was shocked. The line started right at the main gate of the ride! You know, where it says, "Ahoy, Mates!" It was about a 15 minute wait! It kept breaking down inside and it started to get annoying, but they couldn't get over how short the wait time was to board.
Next, they browsed through the Pieces of Eight shop and then went over to HM to see it was a 5 minute wait! They walked right up to the door and went inside. It too, tended to stop once or twice due to the loading of people from wheelchairs, but that was okay.
Then, they walked over to Winnie the Pooh and found the rumored stuffed heads in the ride. Christine read online that there are some deer and boar heads left from "The Country Bear Jamboree" and they're located on the wall above the area just as Pooh is about to have his dream.
After that, they took the NOS train to ToonTown to see if they could get on any rides in Fantasyland. ToonTown was already closed for the fireworks, so then they went toward Peter Pan, but it too was closed for the fireworks.
They got back on the train to Main Street and watched the rest of the fireworks before leaving around 10 p.m. So, they were there for about 3 hours, riding three things!
Just wanted to report to say I was surprised that they got on two popular rides so quickly and on a Saturday! Wish I could have gone, but I need to finish a costume real soon!
