Ok, with school approaching in just one more day, I have to get this Trip Report completed or you will still be hearing about our trip come Christmas. I have taken over Day Five and I will be handling the Disney Melt Down I had on Day Seven and our last day on Day Eight as well as any addendums that I see the need to add. John will be doing day Six, and so without any further ado
..
Day Five: Water Fun and Getting John Drunk Again
John left you off sleeping at Disney Motel 6 (you will notice that he downgraded the Pop Century to a 6 where I had it as an 8, so flame his report and not mine!) and we woke up the next morning (well .almost morning Mid-Morning) and got ready for some water fun at the Sammy Duval Water and More center. We missed all of this yesterday due to the weather, and we were determined that the afternoon storms were not going to get in our way this time, and headed out early to enjoy Bay Lake. We are on the Premium package and so we didnt actually have to pay for any of these recreational activities since they were included in the price, so we decided on Jet-skiing and parasailing. We got to the Contemporary without any problems and discussed about changing the plans (since we were up a little late and slept in) and not going to Epcot and Le Celiar for lunch and just do the jet-skiing and Parasailing, and so that is what we decided, and it made for a very relaxing vacation morning and afternoon. First off: Jet Skiing! We loved it! They take you out to this area of lake behind the Contemporary and let you go. These jet skis can go, and we had so much fun on them. John did forget the rule about driving too close to other riders and splashed me a couple of times I was not as daring as he was for fear that me and my fat self would fall off this thing and that would be the end of me. But towards the end of our hour (it seemed so much shorter because we were having so much fun) I started getting a little braver and splashed John once well it wasnt on purpose or anything well maybe a little on purpose. John kept wanting to race me, and I just kept zipping around avoiding Mr. Like to Splash with His New Toy and obeyed the safety rules giving by Julie McCoy the cruise director not really, but she kind of did look like Julie. She had a hard job too .while we risked our lives and limbs zooming about; she was sunbathing on her jet-ski, ahhhh the life. When we got back, they were not quite ready for us and parasailing so we decided to go and eat at the Concourse Steak House. This was once again a fabulous meal I had a NY Strip which was cooked perfectly and came with yummy Onion Rings, and also a Key Lime Pie which was very nice .John is sleeping and I cant remember what he had, but he reported that his was good as well, and the server was very friendly. It is now Day Five and if you havent noticed, we like to eat! And this dining plan is incredible for us as it has given us the opportunity to eat wherever we wanted and whatever we wanted such a deal would do it again just for the dining! Ok, food has once again thrown me off course .ok ..I was talking about food, and more specifically the excellent lunch at Concourse Steak House, after which we went in search of some cold medicine because John is whining about a cold he is getting well he isnt so much whining about it as announcing that he feels better or feels worse every ten minutes or so depending on the situation. We find some, and find that medicine is actually quite the bargain while on WDW property, so look into getting sick and getting some medicine as a souvenir while at WDW. Now, its time to head back out to Bay Lake for some parasailing, and before we even know it we are out on a boat and John is in the 600 feet in the air, and thank goodness he cant give me the ten minute sickness update. And then its my turn, and thank goodness (once again) that they do this really quick, and dont even give me a chance to say if I am ready or not I was just up, up and away on my beautiful parasail. And it was incredible! The views are incredible, the feeling is incredible, and you can see for miles and miles. I would suggest that anyone who can afford this luxury do so and experience this at least once. Its over too soon, and we are back on the boat (we never even got wetwe take off and are landed right on the back of this boat) and back to dry land, and we are exhausted and exhilarated all at the same time and John is feeling much better.
Back to the Disney Motel 6 for a nap (as if anyone can really sleep with the toilets and the running and pounding .just one more night, you can do this Mike) and I guess I must have slept because Stitch is once again waking me up and telling me to get ready for Downtown Disney! John and I are headed for a performance of LaNouba and going to shake our groove thing at Pleasure Island. We drive because I cant imagine trying to get back to Disney Motel 6 from Downtown Disney and plus its like a five minute drive down the road. We arrive just as a BTG bus drops off a load of young hoochie mamas and their dates. (Slight detour here why is it that these Tour Groups give this kids clothes to wear and the boys are always dressed in comfortable loose fitting clothes that look reasonable to wear to Theme Parks all day long, while the girls have to wear these tight polyester things that look uncomfortable and made of a material that doesnt breathe in the 100 degrees plus humidity of Central Florida, and also make them look a little too ok I will say it, smutty????) John and I freak out, and I stay calm and inform him that we just have to stay in front of the marauding BTG and head off to get our tickets for LaNouba at the will call window.
After we have 180$ dollars worth of tickets in our hands, we head off to Disney Quest, and are there for all of 10 minutes before we decide that this is crazy crowded with teens and BTGs and Them that we high tail it out of there and to Virgin Record store. We love this store, and its really just as much fun as Disney Quest for me, although John is upset about Disney Quest because he had read that it is closing and he thinks that this is the last time we will be there before it closes yeah right! I have been back to the WDW Motherland and it will not take me that long to get the urge to go back I would say a month or so and I will be charging another weekend trip to gain my sanity back again. I am still trying to figure out how I was able to stay away for almost 4 years! Never again Disney, dont worry I will be back .where was I???? Disney Quest John upset, but loving Virgin Records ok after shopping a little, we still have some time before our Reservations at Wolfgang Pucks, and so decide to check out some more of the shops, and we also sit by one of the Disney Fountains (No one does water fountains like Disney) and then its off to dinner. (John is feeling better by the way).
Dinner is once again fantastic! Is it possible to get a bad meal at WDW (well, yes it is, but we didnt eat at Planet Hollywood or the Rainforest Café)? I had the BBQ Quesadilla appetizer and John had Spinach Dip and then for our entrees I had Veal Wiener schnitzel which was wonderful (but I substituted the Garlic Mashed Potatoes since warm Potatoes salad didnt sound appealing to me) and John had 3 cheese Ravioli with shrimp (which he enjoyed as well, and afterwards he was feeling much better 10 minute updates I think John thought his sickness was a CNN broadcast uh-oh, I hope he doesnt read this). Desert was a very moist Carrot Cake with some really great cream cheese frosting which I ate all of (the frosting not the whole cake) and John had chocolate Fondue (he had been looking forward to that for the whole trip I think).
After dinner, its off to LaNouba and I told John we had to be early so we could see the clowns (who were very funny). And then the show starts, and it is as amazing as I remembered with one theatrically perfect picture after another bike performers were still amazing, and the four white clowns are just as funny as ever, and the guy with the red silk scarves flying act is just as cute as ever, and everything is perfect, just like I remember it. John is confused by the whole thing. He enjoyed it and thought it was amazing, but the combination of cold and cold medicine didnt allow him to concentrate, and he was a little confused at what he should be watching his words not mine. I will let him describe his own feelings to LaNouba since I am not entire ally clear if he liked it or not (although he did want to get all of the Cirque CDs he loves music, just as I do which is why we fit together so well).
After LaNouba, it is off to shake our Groove Thing at Pleasure Island! Did you know that they dont have turnstiles out front anymore? We didnt either, and it was quite the confusion for us in addition to this confusion, there are Walls up everywhere in Pleasure Island while they make the world better for our future enjoyment. What are they doing here? They took out the main stage? Crazyyyyyyyyyyyy! I need a drink to handle this off to the Adventurers Club here is where they scan our tickets to get in and get wristbands. Thank goodness they have not messed with the Adventurers Club as it is one of the most unique places on Disney property, and since John had never been, it was necessary to get him drunk in order to understand what was going on its hard to explain this club to a sober person. We saw the French maids show in the Library, and John started to panic when he saw her coming into the audience to sing, but I held his hand in support and she passed us right by without any hassling of the 2 Gay boys (Which is not all that rare of a thing in the Adventurers club). Next we attempted the Comedy Club, but didnt make it because, and I kid you not when a tell you a CM told us this was the reason they didnt have enough servers and so they were only filling up half of the theatre he told us this no story about technical difficulties or anything like that they did not have enough help on a Saturday night! While I applaud him for his honesty, some of the other guests around us were not very happy! Oh well onto Mannequins. I used to love Mannequins, and I can remember when they had the whole Phantom of the Opera theme going on, but it is way cooler now! More Lights and this really cool fog machine that blows really cold fog and air on you from the heavens above! I loved it and I shook my groove thing on the spinning record dance floor for about 10 minutes, and then my 40 year old body and ears caught up to the 20 year old dream, and it was way too loud in there! John shook his groove thing for about 10 more minutes and then wanted to go home to the Disney Motel 6 for our last night in the world of toilets and running feet and postage size pillows .I just told myself that we were packing up and moving up in the world tomorrow, and that I could do this for one more night. I made it but just barely and I will never do it again! Pop Century sucks!
Next Installment (By John): Day Six: More Water Fun with Cinderella, and a Real Resort
Man, I think these trip reports are getting longer as we move on--I thought they would get shorter as we took more naps...how many times can you read about us napping!
