(we're back home now, so I retitled from Live... and am able to add some photos)
We are having our first stay at the Boardwalk, spending a quick weekend (and points) for DH to participate in Sunday's Race for the Taste. We have a 1BR for our family of four (me, DH, DS12 and DS11).
We arrived around 8:15 p.m. on Friday night. The area where you drop off / pick up passengers and vehicles for valet was packed with cars, so DH dropped me off to go inside and register while he and the boys drove around the parking lot for a few minutes.
Registration was quick; I only had to wait for the guest at the counter to finish before it was my turn to get us checked in. Then I found the guys waiting in the queue of cars, and we found our way to self-parking. We walked back to find our room, thinking we'd be able to easily walk back to the car to get our stuff. We generally like to check out the room before bringing our stuff in to make sure it's ok and we won't have to move.
Well, we're in 3025 which seems like it's "far far away" and we have a view of the Swan/Dolphin and the waterway to DHS. We hiked back to the car, and about halfway back, agreed that we would drive back to the front and use bell services
When we got back to the front, there was just one car there - big surprise after the mass confusion of 20 minutes earlier.
We got our luggage delivered quickly and got situated enough to get the boys' swimsuits and snorkels out so they could go swim. They haven't used a snorkel before so we wanted them to have a chance to practice. They were the only two people in the main pool (of course it was 9:30 by then). DH went for a short run while we stayed at the pool for a while.
The boys got ready to get showers and we realized after the first one that the shower wasn't draining, so a quick call to "engineering" resulted in a repairman with a plunger who took care of the issue for us. I don't know if whoever stayed here last had the same issue or what, but we always follow the DIS advice of getting things fixed when they arise and trying to leave our accommodations better than we found them.
DH has the Keys to the Kingdom tour this morning (Saturday) so he left early with some friends who are doing the tour with him. I have done it twice before but he never has. He used to work here at WDW back in the late 1970s so he is interested to see how much things have changed (and how much things are still the same, especially behind the scenes).
It's a bit overcast today, so we aren't sure what we'll be doing - hopefully not spending the day dodging rain. DH has to pick up his race back this afternoon over at the Wide World of Sports.
We'll check back in later.
