This is kind of funny. I went to WDW back in Oct. of 1990 (according to my signature it is '89, I just realized I was mistaken). My mom cleared out the warehouse and mailed me all my old stuff that was sitting out in boxes over the yrs. One of the things included in all this junk was a "My Trip" journal from my trip to WDW back in the day.

This will be a very short report, as the entries were not long. I will just retype it because I don't have too many memories of the trip. In fact, this did bring back a ton of memories. Also, keep in mind I was a kid so the writing isn't all that great. The reason I even kept a journal is because I remember it was one of the conditions of my vacation.

One of the things I found interesting is that I remembered my trip being close to 2 weeks long, which was WAY off. I was surprised to find what a short trip it was, and how many things we were able to accomplish in that period of time. I know back in those days Oct. was considered the "off-season".

Now, I will give you a run-down of all the CMs for this trip. Me: tween, My uncle: Rich, his wife: Ali, and my cousin (their son): Curt who was about 7-yrs old at the time.

Before I start, I just wanted to add that you bear w/ me. Remember, this was 20 yrs ago so things were much different. This was back in the days of "penpals" and such lol. The styles were also gross and different. I started this trip off in AK, but I will begin on travel day one from ANC-SEA. Also, I came from a VERY small town of about 5K people, and it's evident from my awe in the journal, that I did not get out very much. I was impressed by the landscape of nothingness we flew over lol! In fact, this was only my 2nd or 3rd time out of the state of AK.

In SEA, it was 49F with scattered clouds in the morning, but in the afternoon when we got there it was 46F. It seemed hot to me though. The sun was shining. On the way to Minnesota, there was a lot of farmland. It looked like tile on a floor or a checkerboard, for as far as you can see it covered. Hardly any homes though. The weather at St. Paul Minnesota is 52F! and scattered clouds. I got lost in Minneapolis and rode in a golfcart. It was fun. It was scary. 75F in Florida! And it's night!!! "It's a beautiful evening" the pilot said. It's so humid here.

Today we went to Magic Kingdom. I went on the carousel, teacups, space mountain, and the pirates of the caribbean. I liked space Mountain. Pirates of the Caribbean was fun. We went on a monorail tram-something, ferry, and a train. It was very hot, and I got tired. After we left, we went to river country but it waS closed so we came back to the Vistana and me, Rich, and Curt went swimming for a long time. I can swim a little bit. Then it rained while we were swimming so we came back and I took a bath.

89F. Today we went to MGM studios. We went to a muppet show, went on the great movie ride, went on star tours, and met the teenage Mutant Ninja turtles. I liked the Great Movie ride. I saw the ruby slippers that Dorothy or Judy Garland wore in the movie, "The Wizard of Oz". It kind of reminded me of the Pirates of the Caribbean. Then we went to Typhoon Lagoon but it was closed so we went swimming. I finally know how to swim. I even went down the water slide here. It's about 6 ft. long.

It rained for a little bit and thunder & lightning 89F. Today we went to Epcot center, and I thought it was boring. It was hot there and I went to see Captain EO. It was neat. Then we went to Magic Kingdom and went on Tom Sawyer's Island for a long time. Curt liked it but I didn't that much. At Epcot Ctr, we also went on Imagine ride, and it was kind of like Pirates of the Caribbean too. Then we went to the future playground. It was interesting. After Tom Sawyer, we went and ate. I had a mexican hot dog but didn't like it that much. Then me and Rich went to the haunted mansion. That was fun but not scary. Then we came back and went swimming.

October 11, 1990 86F Orlando

Today we went to Typhoon Lagoon. It was fun. Humonga Kowagunga was so scary! In the main pool, 10 big waves came and they were very scary! I liked the water slides. We ate hotdogs and chips and sprite, and then I almost went snorkeling with live sharks and other sea creatures but I looked under water and got too scared. Then we came back and went swimming here. Then we came in and ate chilidogs, and I took a bath.

October 12, 1990 Orlando 89F

Today we went to MGM Studios first, and saw the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles and the Muppets and the Indiana Jones epic stunt spectacular. Then we went to Magic Kingdom. First I went on the Big thunder mountain railroad, then on It's a small world, the carousel, peter pan, snow white, Dumbo, the wild toad ride, then a 3D film called "A Journey" which was boring. When we went to see the turtles I got Leonardo and April O'Neil's autographs. At MK I got Chip's autograph and Br'er Fox's.

Okay, the rest of the entries are from other places (Busch Gardens, etc) so I won't include them. However, I thought I'd include a couple things from my "purchases" section that I thought were funny. You can definitely tell by the prices, that this was 20 yrs ago!!:lmao: These were all purchased in WDW btw:

Kodak 35 mm camera: $34.99
Mickey pirate figurine: $5.50
Bathing suit: $10.00
Mickey Postcards: $2.00
Star Tours Postcard: $0.89
Ewok Stuffed animal: $10.00
Tinman snowglobe (which I think I still have) $11.50
MGM studios pen: $1.49
Teenage Ninja Turtles notepad: $2.00
Epcot Center Cup: $2.50
Mickey plastic rubber-like figure: $2.99
Pirate glass box: $7.95

Stuffed Tigger $12.95 which my kids now own!!
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse t-shirt: $11.95
MGM studios t-shirt: $11.95
Pluto spoon: $1.50
Dalmatian puppy: $4.95
Christmas ornament: $4.00
7 postcards: $3.16
Disney Photo album: $3.00

In the back of this "trip journal" there is a place for special recommendations. I said, "MGM Studios- Great Movie ride". Magic Kingdom: Pirates of the Caribbean & Space Mountain.

I also summed up all our Disney days. I put 10/8 afternoon Magic Kingdom
10/9 whole day MGM Studios
10/10 half Epcot, half Magic Kingdom

I also said I departed w/ $51 in cash and $500 in traveler's checks lol. I don't even remember that. Do people still use them? It also says that I paid $0.25 for a small locker in the park, $1.60 for a large sprite, and $1.40 for a small sprite. One slice of cheese pizza was $1.

Wow, how interesting to look back and see! I had gone in approximately 1977, then not again until 2000, so I missed everything from when it was just MK to when Epcot got pretty good. ;)

Thanks for sharing! :goodvibes
