Just got back yesterday from our trip down to the fort. We stayed in site 125 and it was very nice. We seemed to be in the loop of long-term campers. Many had set up for at least a few weeks to months. I was totally green with envy. We left from Omaha on Friday morning around 4:45AM and drove as far as Manchester, TN. Then, we did the rest of the trip on Saturday and arrived around 6:30PM. We were thrilled that the site was very easy to back into with only one attempt! :cool1: Set up quickly as it was a beautiful night and the kids were going nuts from being in the RV all day. They redid the playground by the marina and the kids had a ball on it. Lots of slides, rock climbing stuff etc. In fact, my 4 year old probably would have been happy doing that all day instead of going to the theme parks. Sunday was my son's 7th birthday so we went to Magic Kingdom and did pretty much whatever he wanted to do.

Our weather was up and down all week. Sunday and Monday were nice, Tuesday and Wednesday were cold and sort of rainy. Thursday was frigid!!! and Friday and Saturday got bettet and better. In fact, Saturday was absolutely gorgeous. Kids still swam no matter the weather and my protests that if the lifeguards had to wear winter hats and gloves, that perhaps it was too cold to swim!!! :confused3

My husband drove us down and was scheduled to leave on Sunday night. But, mother nature had different ideas and his plane got canceled for 2 days. So, he was with us a little longer :thumbsup2

Thought that FW was beautiful as ever. Things immaculate etc. Found the staff to be especially friendly this time for whatever reason. Maybe because it wasn't so crowded as the times I usually go down.

Magic Kingdom was nice as usual. There seemed to be much more on Main Street than usual with the trolley going down all the time, singing quartets and such. Before the parade, there were games played in the streets, beach balls thrown around by cast members and stuff. Very fun, old-fashioned stuff.

Epcot's new Nemo ride was very cute. Kids loved it. Lines were really short all day, every day.

MGM needs some different attractions. Not much to do for a 7 year old boy there. Sad to see that the Millionaire game is gone and now they have a Narnia attraction (sorry, but not into Narnia). So, very disappointed at MGM. After Tower of Terror and Rock n Rollercoaster, not much else there. (just my opinion though). One cast member did tell us that they are doing a new ride, like Buzz Lightyear with a Toy Story theme and in 3D. So that will be cool. (probably a few years out but still cool). Spectromagic was awesome as usual.

The trip was just wonderful as usual. Rented a golf cart for the week which is always good. Seemed that we were constantly going to the Outpost depot, so it was nice to have the cart.

My only complaint about the whole thing was that I had 2 reservations; one for one day and another for 7 days (they were initially full for that 8th day). We had to check in, then re-check in the next day. They couldn't merge the reservation once it was sent to FW from central reservations. Sometimes computer issues taking priority over common sense is just stupid. Wasn't a huge deal, but it did mean going back to the lobby (opposite side of the campgrounds, and our golf cart wasn't ready yet), stand in a LONG line and check in all over again. Oh, and I left my camera by the pool and it got taken. :( (and lost and found is closed on Fridays and Saturdays for some reason).

But, not focusing on negatives. It was all good and we had a great time.

We left from Omaha on Friday morning around at 4:45AM and drove as far as Manchester, TN. Then, we did the rest of the trip on Saturday and arrived around 6:30PM.

If I ever even start to complain about our 10 hour trip to Florida (which I haven't so far!) I will think of you! Wow!!

Sunday was my son's 7th birthday so we went to Magic Kingdom and did pretty much whatever he wanted to do.

Happy Birthday to your son! I can say, from experience, that spending my birthday at the Magic Kingdom was the best day at Walt Disney World ever!! Did he get a birthday button?

Kids still swam no matter the weather and my protests that if the lifeguards had to wear winter hats and gloves, that perhaps it was too cold to swim!!! :confused3

There's an entire north/south divide when it comes to temps in Florida, you can't use what the locals are wearing as a guide. I usually wear shorts (inside) all winter long here in NC and keep the house at 68. One morning on a trip in January I had on shorts and a long-sleeved t-shirt and an older CM on the dock told me to go back and put more clothes on!! When we lived in Northern Germany, one restaurant owner we knew would close down his place for the entire month of December to go to Daytona Beach where they had no probs swimming in the ocean  .

Found the staff to be especially friendly this time for whatever reason. Maybe because it wasn't so crowded as the times I usually go down.

I don't know if it's because they like their location or I'm prejudiced but the staff at Fort Wilderness seem to be more pleasant every time we're there. We had 2 "CMs behaving badly" things happen to us outside of FW our last trip (Dec) and my family said there was definitely a lot more CM's behaving badly things happen to them in the parks than in any other trip, but at FW they were still up to the usual Disney standards.

Sad to see that the Millionaire game is gone and now they have a Narnia attraction (sorry, but not into Narnia).
Are you talking about the Narnia scene walk-thru? If so, my kids *are* into Narnia and as we walked out they were like :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Oh, and I left my camera by the pool and it got taken. :( (and lost and found is closed on Fridays and Saturdays for some reason).

I'm sorry that happened!! If you haven't already, you should write Disney a letter with a thorough description and see if they can help you out.

Thanks for telling us about your trip!! What kind of RV do you have?

Thanks for your response, Angie. My DS did get his birthday button. I told him he could wear it all week as that's why we were down there but he refused saying, "It's NOT my birthday anymore". LOL So, he is a stickler for the rules. :confused3 I did file a lost and found report, but never heard anything. I just wish whoever took it, would have turned in the SD card. Those are pictures and moments I can never get back and that upsets me far more than losing the camera. :(

Oh well.

I think you are right about the CMs at FW. It is a nice place to be. The boat drivers were especially nice too.

Anyway, we have a 2005 Mandalay Motorhome.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us!
