Day TEN

Sadly we woke up to pouring rain and had to cancel our PS for breakfast with Pooh at the Crystal Palace. :( If our kids were older I would have just gone, but since they are just 1 and 3 I didn't want to drag them out in the rain. We waited around in the lobby all morning trying to decide what to do. We thought about going over to DTD to see Jungle Book 2, but couldn't make up our minds. ;) We had a rental car that dh picked up at the Swan because we were using it to drive to the airport. So we decided to drive over to the AKL and check it out for the first time.

The lobby of the AKL is very large and very beautiful. It was packed with people trying to stay dry and probably wondering what to do. ;) We went to a few of the different viewing areas but there were no animals to be found. :( I think they were all staying out of the rain... but at least I could imagine what it would be like when they are out and I think it must be really nice. :) We walked down one of the hallways, just to see how far it really is, and gave up about 3/4 of the way down! ;) Man that was a long walk! If I was in one of those end rooms I would be super miserable. All in all I do think it is a nice hotel, but I don't think I'd really want to stay there unless it was just a couple of nights. It's just not really my type of entertainment.

After that we went down to check out the restaurants and pool. Stupid me didn't know Boma wasn't open for lunch, so we had nowhere to eat. :o So we hopped in the car and decided to go check out the WL. We hadn't been over there in a long time.

When we arrived we decided to have lunch at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. Neither of us had been there before and we weren't too thrilled with the service. After taking our order and bringing our drinks our server never came back. Not even once! We had ordered the "bottomless" milkshake but couldn't get our free refill anyway cause we couldn't find our server, which stunk! It wasn't even a real milkshake anyway. Finally when the server brought the food out we were so annoyed I think she could tell. ;) DH and I had the smokehouse stack and it was OK. Nothing great. Our older ds did enjoy the pony races and getting sworn in, but I don't think we'd eat there again.

We decided to take the boat to MK because it had finally stopped raining! :) The park was dead, probably because of the rain, and we did a ton of rides. :) Aladdin, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Dumbo, Buzz, TTA.... It was great. Then we took the boat back to WL, got our car, and drove to DTD. I got to go in the new Basin store, which was my personal thrill of the day ;) and the kids got to do their two favorite things... Once Upon a Toy and Legoland! We grabbed a quick dinner at McDonald's (the boys loved that) and then headed back to the room to pack and get to bed early. After, of course, one last Illuminations from the balcony. :)

Sorry to hear the rain spoiled your day - thanks for posting!

We were at MK late on 5/1 too and also enjoyed the relatively low crowds. My children are a bit older (dd6 and ds almost 4) so we were thrilled to get multiple rides on Splash and BTMRR, besides the ones you mentioned. Maybe we saw you. :)

The only lines were at Columbia Harbour House for dinner, dh guessed that the kitchen was short-staffed because the two workers he could see were moving as fast as they could.

We stayed for Spectro and fireworks, worked our way out of the park slowly, then caught the last ferry of the night. It malfunctioned leaving the MK dock and they had to back it into the TTC dock. So all the people who had pushed to be at the front were now at the back. Too funny!

I've enjoyed your reports as we were there much of the same time (4/27-5/2). It was a good week overall and I applaud your positive attitude.

but glad that youwere able to do all the rides after .....that is awesome to do that many.......thanks so much for your reports

Stupid me...hit submit without writing anything......

anyway, we were there on 5/1 too! Almost everything was a walk on or very short wait! Gotta love that! We ate that night at Columbia House too....what time were you there? It was about 7:45 for us. Just as we were ordering the computer malfunctioned and we had to wait forever until they moved everyone to another register. They did give us 4 pieces of pie and 3 bags of cookies for our troubles tho. I thought that was really nice of them! Their sandwiches are huge! I'll definatly split one next time!!!

Yes, we were there then! Dh waited in line and the kids and I got a table upstairs. We saw everyone moving into other lines. Glad you got some pie for your troubles. Did you like the cookies? My kids wouldn't eat them, they do taste a little weird.
