Day 3 - DLRP - Thursday July 27th 2006

Before we start, I forgot to mention that the previous night at 8pm we went to pick our shopping up from the Cheyenne shop and low and behold, what was missing? The POTC globe which I'd seen the woman put on the side in the Le Coffre du Capitaine when we bought the stuff on Tuesday. They offered us a refund which we took, but because they took so long we ended up taking the shopping into the park with us so as not to miss our booking at Plaza Gardens - talk about defeating the whole point of the shopping delivery service!

Breakfast was at 8.45 and we grudgingly dragged ourselves out of bed and walked, zombie like, to the Chuck Wagon Cafe for some grub. After eats Minnie Mouse was in the foyer so we got a picture with her which we picked up from the shop - I always wanted a photo with the Cheyenne stamp in the corner - now I do!

We headed over to Disney Studios so we could go on the Studio Tram Tour that we'd missed the previous day but when we got there they were ushering people out of Studio 1 and shutting the doors - no idea why but it gave us an excuse to do more shopping and shortly afterwards we were allowed through. As we walked through Studio 1 the band were playing that ever so catchy Cantina Band song from Star Wars: A New Hope - awesome! Then it was on to the Studio Tram Tour and this time we literally walked up, waited a minute and got on. We noticed a few added props and at the Catastrophe Canyon bit I was so intent on taking the photo you see below I didn't have enough time to get back to the middle of the seats and I got drenched - Denise laughed!

The day before it would have been refreshing but it wasn't that warm at 10.30am so I just sat there all wet and a bit shell-shocked! Still, relief was to come in the form of the set from Reign of Fire and the fire warmed me up. I commented that we should have got some mallows out and Denise said 'is that what you call them these days?' referring to something not of the marshmallow variety! Thus, a new word, or at least an old word with a new meaning entered the Riley vocabulary!

After that it was onto Armageddon which I've never been that fussed about but there was nobody in the queuing area so we thought we'd give it a go. Silly us - we waited about 15 minutes as the people streamed in and by this point the sun decided to come out and boil us alive, well, almost! The Armageddon experience was as underwhelming as ever and seeing kids screaming and crying at the fire didn't make us like it any more!

A bit more shopping, had to get the Disney Studios Cinema Parade CD as it completes my collection! Next was lunch and back to the sandwich place in Disney Village. This was followed by Disneyland Park and our second go on Buzz Lightyear: Lazer Blast. To spice things up Denise suggested the t-shirt challenge whereby the person with the highest score had to buy a t-shirt within 10 minutes of leaving the ride! Feeling a lot more confident having had a go yesterday I went on to win the challenge, in style I might add! Denise bettered her score by 100 points to get a total of 46,000 but I won the challenge with a score of 628,000! I was ever so proud and we bought the photo, again - his time it had the correct scores on - thank goodness! I chose a Buzz Lightyear: Lazer Blast t-shirt, it seemed very fitting!

We stayed in Discoveryland and went on Star Tours - Denise can't wait to get pregnant so she doesn't have to go on that one - her least favourite! Then we went to Honey I Shrunk The Audience where even though I've seen it on every visit I jumped so much when the bullet shot out that my headphones went flying off my head! After retrieving them Denise I couldn't stop laughing! Satisfied we'd done Discoveryland we went off to Pirates of the Caribbean where I made such a stupid face we had to buy the photo again and here is a photo of the photo...

Back to the hotel we went for our usual routine of a sit down and a shower, then it was back into the park where were to meet Dad and family at The Blue Lagoon. We got there at 7.05pm (table booked for 7.30pm) so we went on POTC. We came out and it was 7.17pm and I just had to go on again - walking down to the ride Denise went ahead while I was photographing something and then jumped out as I went past - for the second time that day I jumped out of my skin but it was amusing, esecially for Denise! We were late when we came out of the ride but Dad was running eve later so went into the Blue Lagoon and sat at the table to wait for them. The food was wonderful - I had Red Snapper and Denise had Swordfish, as did my Dad. Maria had curry and the kids had sausage kebabs and pasta. Earlier in the night someone had a birthday cake at their table which was nice - Denise had always regretted not doing that for me when we celebrated my 30th birthday in the Blue Lagoon 2 years ago. Anyway, as Sam and Izzy were tucking into their desert (part of the price of a kids meal) our waitress walked up to us with a birthday cake -candles lit and everything. My first thought was to think 'ahh, another birthday, wonder who it is'. Then, as she stopped at our table it still didn't twig and I looked around and everyone was looking at me - then the penny dropped and I said 'it's for me!!'. It was such a surprise but a fabulous one. Everyone sung happy birthday and I felt so very special - it was a gorgeous chocolate torte with a 'My Birthday at Disneyland Resort Paris' card in it - that got cleaned up and taken home! Denise had organised the cake and I was so chuffed, the whole Blue Lagoon experience was the best ever and it has cemented it's place as our best restaurant ever even more. Props to our waitress who was really good all night.

By this time it was almost 9.10pm, and with Denise, Sam and Izzy in tow I ran outside to the POTC to meet Sarah (TotallyAngelic) and family - we were late! Luckily they were still there and I recognised them from a photo Sarah showed us before we left. We met Sarah, Tony, Taryn and Daniel who were all really nice and great to chat to. Before long we were on the ride and to my delight Sarah and family were loud - something I've been all my life! It was great and we were all whooping and laughing the whole way round. Sarah and her family are lovely and so openly excited about Disney and life in general. Denise turned to me and said 'we'll be like when we have kids won't we?' to which I replied 'yep, I hope so'. We did some photos and then went on POTC again, twice! It was such a fun time and we got louder with each ride - Tony has a job as the guy who says 'Dead Men Tell No Tales' if their machine ever breaks down!

A walk through Adverntureland and we all found ourselves a place to watch Fantillusion and Wishes. We mostly chatted through the parade but we were all attentive for Wishes which was amazing and quite an emotional thing to watch, isn't that right Sarah? Have to say, it gets me every time - such a beautiful experience and to be there with family and new friends just made it even better.

We all said our goodbyes and the then it was back to the Cheyenne. Denise and I got some drinks and sat outside on the decking of the Red Garter Saloon. To our delight The Thrifts actually came outside to play - The Thrifts are as much a part of a trip to DLRP as anything else as anyone who stays in the Cheyenne will know. Their last song was a country and western version of Circle of Life from Lion King which was brilliant. Past Midnight and we were both shattered so we went back to our room and to bed. We both agreed that the day had been totally amazing, possibly the best day ever!
