In laws were suppose to go also but FIL had emergency
knee surgery. I did get all of their money back but the
airline tickets. Bummer!
First day, Saturday May 4th: Flight out of Minneapolis at 6:40a.m.
We were told to still be there 2 hours in advance by the airline. This was a joke! We stayed at the Marriott Mall of America, park n fly. We took the shuttle to the airport at 4:00. Check in for Delta took 10 minutes. Security took 15 minutes, so we sat at the airport and sat and sat. We had a stop in Atlanta on the way. Big rain storm there. Pilot did an excellent job of landing the plane. We finally arrived in Orlando at 11:30 a.m. Picked up our luggage and off to pick up our car from Dollar. This went really fast. No waits! And off we go!
We usually do not do too much the first day. Check in at the hotel was really long. We stayed at POR - Riverside. I think this was the longest wait and line we stood in the whole trip. We did not get what we wanted for a room but I wasn't really complaining. We took a room that wasn't really too far and it was ready. Went to the room to drop everything off. Change clothes, it was 96 degrees and humid. You really do need to do a change of clothes after leaving Minneapolis at 40 degrees and flying in an airplane.
BIG DIFFERENCE! But that is why we go to Florida!
First thing we decide to do - drive over to Winn Dixie to pick up a few things. We usually don't buy too much. Bought a cooler, water bottles, juice boxes, and a few donuts for the next day.
Next stop - Downtown Disney. By this time, we are starving. We decide to grab something fast at McDonalds. It is very busy at DD. We did do alittle souveneir shopping at this point.
Ok it is really hot, back to the hotel for a swim and relax the rest of the day a/c every day coming is full of activites. We ate some dinner in the food court at POR. No complaints at all for the food in the food court.
Swim some more and to bed for the next day. The other 9 days coming!!! Great time!
