Our Day on Saturday March 16th started very early. Our flight left Nofolk Va at 5:40am. Me and my husband were up about 3:00, we showered ,dressed, and he got the van packed for the airport. We live only about 20 mintues from the airport. We woke my son up at about 3:45am. Both kids were in bed by 7:30 the nite before for this early morning trip. He wanted to sleep in his clothes as not to waste time in the morning. He was up and ready to go quickly. After everything was completely loaded we got my daughter up, she was dressed too and ready to go. We got to the Norfolk airport at 4:20 am. Check in was quick, less then 5 mintues. We went upstairs and let the kids run around for a bit, then went through security, also very quick. We boarded our plane to Atlanta. At 6am we were still havent left, and everybody was wondering what the hold up was since the flight was to leave at 5:40am. Well this was a small aircraft only 14 rows of 2 seats on each side. Finally the gate agent runs up to the plane and tells us the aircraft is too heavy and that he would like 6 people to get off and take the flight going to Cincinnati. He found out who was flying to the East and 5 of those people got off and got to fly first class to their final destination. So after that was taken care of we were off to Atlanta. Even with the delay, we got to Atlanta on time, and our connection to Orlando was at 8:40. We stopped for a quick breakfast at the Burger Kind in the Atlanta aiprort and got on the plane to Orlando. This was a HUGE plane. And of course, I had the only screaming child the whole way. My 2 1/2 yr old has a hard time sleeping in public, and by now she was very tired and crabby. We finally get to Orlando at 10:05am and what a relief! Now my daughter has stopped screaming and as we are pushing her to the luggage area she is yelling "SEE MICKEY!". I guess our fault for telling her for months, we are going on an airplane to see Mickey. We told her Mickey wasnt at the airport, and her response was "WHY NOT". We got our luggage in less then 5 minutes(A first for us)and headed to the Hertz shuttle bus. The bus was there and waiting, and my daughter finally fell asleep, now we all could relax for awhile. We got to the Hertz rental area in less then 5 minutes and the lines went smoothly in there. We got a rental from Priceline, I paid $143 for a week for a compact car. So while I waited with my sleeping daughter my husband did the paper work. After he was done he told me they wanted him to upgrade for 5$ a day to a Ford Escaped(Im not sure of the spelling, but it was like a small SUV). I told my dh he should of but he said we didnt need too. So hes off to the c19 where they told him our car would be. He pulls up with this bright Yellow Ford(the small SUV I was talking about earlier. So I tell him this is not a compact car, and he kept telling me but it was in the space she told me. So we loaded everybody in the car and we told the gate girl the problem, so she sais we need to go in and talk to customer service. So to make a long story short, they let us keep it for free, well they didnt charge us any extra. So we made out good, andhad alot of room.
Ok, off to the Hilton Grand Vacation club. My parents are timeshare owners in LasVegas, but got us the week in Orlando. This was my 2nd trip to HGVC and I really enjoy it there. Check in is 4pm, and we got there at 12:05, as you can guess, the room is not ready. So we drive around, find where the publix is, (Only2 miles away)and went back at 1:30 and the room was ready. We had a one bedroom condo, it was great. The bedroom has a King size bed, a whirlpool bathtub. The main bathroom is huge with a walk in shower and lots of sink room. My son slept on the queen size sleeper sofa and my daughter slept in a crib next to our bed. I must say our first day was STRESSFUL,. as my daughter was constipated. Not a fun way to start off the trip, we made several trips to the Eckards(I know its spelled wrong)and even made a call to her dr back home, this child was just miserable. And frankly by 6pm that nite we were all miserable. It wasnt her fault, it just happened. Ok we finally got her straightened out a few days later, but it was so hard for all of us. The first day me and my son went to the pool for about an hr. But frankly it was not much fun, I was feeling guilty about my daughter. My son was taking this hard too, although he knew his sister wasnt feeling very good, he was quite disappointed that we werent doing anything fun. We had plans to go to downtown Disney that nite etc... We werent quite sure how the next day would be...Oh I forgot to say, that it was 88 and sunny our first day in Orlando.
The rest of the trip got better. Thank you for baring with me on my first trip report.
