This trip was a last minute bounce around. typically we book a year in advance right at my 11 month window. However this year we had Universal, (gasp) booked for Harry Potter.
As time got closer and we read a bit about lines and people getting up at 6am. I decided to bail out. That left us with choices of what to do.
We decided to Do Discovery Cove, Seaworld and Aquatica.
Day one 8/23 We left home at noon to drive to Boston for the flight at 8pm. Stopped by to see my ailing inlaws had a late lunch and headed to the airport. where sadly our plane was delayed hour after hour. it was ugly!
I will spare the details except to say we walked into the room at BWV at 4:10 am. And It was the absolute last room at the end of the hallway. LOL
The next day my mom that lives locally came over and we went to Beaches and Cream our traditional first day stop. Spent the day with my mom and moved over to Marriotts grand vista. had a lovely 2 bedroom renovated unit.
Stayed at Marriott 4 days did All the parks over there associated with Sea world.
On Saturday the 28th we moved over to AKV Kidani. I was unable to get 3 nights in a row at the properties I wanted. So I was willing to hop around at this point. I have used the pool over at Kidani but, never stayed there before always at Jambo house we stay. in any event, the units here are just beautiful. We had a 2 bedroom standard view. did not mind the standard view at all. I probably would have missed the Savannah view had we been there any longer than the one evening.
We had a few surprises over here at Kidani that I still am confused about. first off upon checking in there was a gift basket an expensive one addressed to me. Stating should I need anything to call the manager and her card was enclosed. I have never stayed at the property. and honest have no idea what that was all about??? we left went out to dinner and came back to another oddity.. turndown service and more hand painted chocolates. Again perhaps someone could enlighten me???? As I was now more confused than ever.
It was lovely don't get me wrong. just a bit strange?
The next day we moved over to Bay Lake for our last 2 nights. in a 2 bedroom magic kingdom view.
I am a die hard AKV, BWV fan. But I have to say this room was heaven to me. I sat and watched the monorail go into the building about a 100 times. My kids were teasing me, yes Mom the monorail is STILL going in the building.
We did nothing here but, chill out swim go out to dinner. We had a lovely time. We did do the richard petty experience for my 16 year old one day out of the two. he seemed to like it. His 23 year old sister was not pleased. the release of claims is pretty extensive and she was super mad that I signed it and let him do it.
In short we did some varying things this trip/ Loved AKV and BLT 2 kids have now decided BLT is thier fave and one is still on AKV. We made good use of the sky bridge and the arcade. I used the BLT pool only once. And it was not a good experience. We went at night after the lifeguards left. about 8 ten pm or so? 2 minutes in the pool. One son got kicked by a child. 2 minutes later again same deal. I got up went to the pools edge to see/hear the child swim again up to my son and say " What you looking at kid have a problem?" after she had twice kicked him. no adult in sight. she spots me says ever so sweetly is that your mom? I never moved from the side of the pool after that. She then choked the living bejeez out of younger brother cousin whoever he was was. repeatedly. it was sad really.
Again no adult. after about 5 minutes of her literally abusing him. he pushed her off. and she screams. I am telling daddy you choked me. and off she went to the bar.
Now why am I mentioning this? because I was so horrified by the behavior and the nastiness, I feel its worth mentioning. Heres a tip. Watch your kids. Not smooze the bartender. And if your daughter is about ten and named Kylie, or Kaylie. Please know her brother didn't hit her, and also know she was trying to choke and or drown him. but I digress.
Total time spent at this pool less than 20 minutes. My recess monitor tendancies were killing me. I couldn't watch it anymore we had to leave. We left went over to The CR pool. and the kids swam till well after 1am. And then got up at three am for magical express.
So thats it in a nut shell. it was a very strange trip for us. But doable even with all the room hopping!
