We got home last evening from the 70's at the Fort to the 20's at home. Global Warming! Bah! Humbug!!!
We had a good visit this year from the 13th through the 1st, but were somewhat hampered by the rainy weather and the ongoing consequences of DW's 7 back surgeries since mid-August. We did get to make a few trips into the parks, but spent a lot of time at the Fort. We met several of you and enjoyed that. DS13 and I went into the MK the first day, but his main interest was in Cosmic Ray's hamburgers. We all went to Epcot to see Whoopie Goldberg, but transportation difficulties kept us from seeing all but the Halleulah Chorus. Again, DS13's main interest was in the American Pavilion's cheesburgers. DS13 and I went to HS and naturally he found the cheesburgers at the Commissary. On the other excursion DS13 and I road the train around the park for the first time in 12 years. The rest of the family waited for us at the station since the train couldn't accommodate three wheelchairs. We also got to Main Street and the hamburgers at the corner ( I forget the name of the place). A little shopping, including some (but not enough) wonderful fudge, completed that trip.
We participated in the FW GC parade again this year and distributed a lot of candy to the sidelines. That was a happy time especially for the girls in their car seats on the back of the GC who really enjoyed getting out and seeing and hearing the well-wishers along the road.
DW was pretty much down the last couple of days with back pains, so I packed up our 23 inflatables and assorted decorations and prepared to leave. Naturally the day I needed to load the trailer it rained, so I worked between showers as much as possible.
I missed the entire Auburn bowl game while loading the trailer, which I later learned was a game for the ages. DW gets her chance when Alabama goes for all the marbles later this week. War Wagle and Roll Tide!!!
On the way home we encountered not one, not two, but four extremely difficult traffic jams coming up I-75. Two were the result of long sections of road construction, one a minor wreck, and the last one south of Atlanta where the outlet stores are concentrated.

If all this sounds like a messed up trip to the Fort, it was! But even a messed up trip to the Fort beats not going to the Fort!! We enjoyed what we could and we already have our reservations for next Christmas/New Years. Good Health and Happy New Year to all. We'll see you there.
