my first trip report of our first ever trip to disney so here goes
the cast is
me- Debs(36) DH David(41), DD Bethany(13) and DS1 Ryan(12) and DS2 Leighton(6) + a family friend also called david(18).
On Sunday 2 July we travelled down to London Kings Cross on the 10.41 am train. (we live in west yorkshire but we really wanted to travel on eurostar) it was very hot, the carriage was an old one and there was no air conditioning. But we were happy because we were going to disney. We had reserved seats because me and ryan are wheelchair users and needed the wheelchair spaces. Some people had to move out of our seats and move their bags i felt a little guilty but not for long. We got to london at around 1.15pm.
We got two taxis from station to holiday inn which was only about 10 mins away. nice hotel got checked in then explored london for rest of day.
Monday Morning - alarm was set and up we got, had lovely complimentary breakfast at hotel. checked out and walked about 15 mins to Waterloo Station. We were all excited, we could start boarding right away. got through the ticket barriers to customs, dh and friend put all luggage and bags through machine. dd went through no probs. ds2(6) decided he didn't like the idea of walking through the metal detector doorway. we tried all sorts to try and persuade him even telling him the mister wouldn't let him go see mickey mouse. but it didnt make any difference. Fortunatly they realised he had hearing aids in and decided a quick body check would do. everyone else had no problems and me and ryan in our wheelchairs had a through body check(a pat down) and then on to the eurostar.
The man with the platform lift was waiting for us. so on we got. We had to go first class because thats the only wheelchair spaces there is. that was the good bit the bad part was the wheelchair spaces are in separate carriages. but we knew that when we booked. and we weren't that far away from each other. we were split into two adjacent carriages. As soon as we boarded we were offered chilled water which was really refreshing as the weather was hot, hot, hot. We departed on time ( i was a little nervous- we had never been abroad before) but looking forward. a short stop at ashford in Kent then we were on our way again.
For breakfast we had a small croissant, a small bread roll with butter and a little glass jar of jam. a small carton of pure orange juice, a youghurt and a small porcelain dish with a chicken sausage, cheese omlette, beaams and grilled tomarto. with a chioce of tea or coffee. the breakfast was served at about 11am which i was glad it wasn't any earlier because we had already had breakfast at the hotel.
The carriages were lovely air conditioned, wide seats. We were only in the tunnel for about 25 mins then out we came in france.
We were given all our park tickets and hotel papers on the train + luggage labels for disney express luggage service.
At about 1.30pm we pulled up at disney railway way station. we paused for a photo at the front of the eurostar and then dropped off our luggage at the luggage office.
when we came out of the station we could not believe how close the train station was to disney.
i have to go now- i will write part 2 later.
