Trip Report 10/29-11/5...

Sorry to hear about the , not so good times , of the trip. But ya know, even with all these yuk things that happen (and they have happened to most of us campers), I still wouldn't trade camping for a hotel. (unless of course, the situation called for it)
Glad ya'll didn't let problems dampen (no pun intended) your spirits .

Thursday was our last full day of Disney magic. Went to Hollywood Studios and had a great time despite of some rain here and there.

As you can see, Disney quickly shifted gears from Halloween/Fall, right into Christmas as this greeted you at the front gate!

We did the great classics like Tower of Terror (NEVER again...I said that last time !!! ) and a first for all of us, the Rockin Roller Coaster, which was a blast!

Another first was the Sci-Fi Diner experience....

We hadn't seen Fantasmic since back in 2004 so decided to go on over and wait for the 7:20 show. We got there early to ensure a seat, and waited in a downpour of rain for 45 minutes. Then, miraculously...it stopped raining....right at 7:30 and this is some of what we saw

Pretty cool, huh? We thought so too :wizard:

Friday, we left around noon for the long journey home. What a week spent recovering !

Working on pictures for memories and already thinking about next time !!!

Analyst that I am, lol, lol. I have a few questions for those who have made a similar trip,,,,distance wise, I mean.

It cost us roughly $700 in gas round trip from southern NJ and we estimated that the entire trip was just under $5000. The gas expense was a little more than I thought. Had planned for around $500, so not TOO much more, but just wondering if the next trip, we should do something different.

It made sense for us, having just gotten the TT, and with a family of 5, the gas costs should be far less than what it would have cost to fly. Not to mention, it was a TOTALLY different experience, and yes, in a very good way.

Would love to hear thoughts from others....good, bad and yes, ugly!

Thanks for following our trip report, and to everyone who answered posts/questions in the planning stages....it really did help and make the trip more enjoyable !!!

Here's looking forward to more planning in the future.

What a great look'n family, :thumbsup2 !! Wonderful tip report and pics too !

Have ya'll start'd plan'n your next Fort trip yet ?

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. So sorry to hear about your awning. As far as your question regarding your next trip, I think that now that you have had a taste of the fort, nothing will compare.

Our awning broke in that storm too!

Cracked, right in the middle, and we had it pitched as well.

Although our insurance isn't covering it. Stupid Easycare.

So, we're thinking of replacing it with a Weatherpro electric awning. Anyone have insurance recommendations?

Great TR.

Great Pics.

BEAUTIFUL family.

Thanks for taking the time to share it with us.

Yep. Sounds about right.
1100 miles from St. Louis including side trips
7.5 mpg
147 gallons of gas
$380 in gas each way (depending on price)

Sorry if this sounds like a Mastercard commerical.

My family's joy of me having to stop every 3-4 hours for gas......priceless. (grrrr!)

Being able to sleep in my own bed......priceless2

Being able to take our puppy along......priceless3

great TR, Sorry about the awning, glad your insurance is covering it.
Gas prices are killer, we figure $900 round trip w/2001 suburban w/31 ft camper:cheer2:
We also stop at mom and dad's for 3 or 4 days Goofin around. We always stop at the same places on the way down everytime.
We check the fuel prices for each stop online just before we leave. Usually within $20. of estimate. :rolleyes1 It drives DW crazy...:rotfl2:

Thanks for sharing! Sorry 'bout the awning. The only advice I can give regarding future trips is what everybody else is saying - THE FORT, THE FORT, THE FORT!:)
