Hi,

After a couple of disappointing visits to DLRP we have decided to take a year off this year from Disney & save the money we would have spent in Paris to have a fortnights trip to WDW next year instead.

Having had my last visit to WDW in 1999 I'm a little rusty on the old trip planning so please bear with me if I start asking silly questions. My plans so far are:

8/11/13 (approx) - 22/11/13

14 nights at Caribbean Beach Resort (stayed there many times & love it) in a preferred location room
Disney Quick Service dining plan included in the above

We are wanting to fly with Virgin I think as I've had previously good experiences with them & think that we will book the flights separately when them become available (am I right in thinking that this is approx 11 months before date of travel ish)

My son has ASD so am hoping that Virgin can help with various questions I will have for them such as boarding before the other passengers if possible to settle him, what we do about his special needs buggy etc etc

I've quoted through Virgin as a package which is £5896.68 The price for just hotel/ticket through WDW is £2796.80 which leaves a difference of £3099.88 - is that a realistic price for flights - ie by booking separate should I manage to get the flights with Virgin directly for less than the £3099 difference in cost. Sorry if thats so obvious but having never booked WDW other than a package I was wanting to check.

Our overall plans are to "do" Disney, DH wants to go to Kennedy (which will be him and DSD) plus Discovery Cove for DH & DSD we will go to Universal if we have the budget left over but I'm currently working to £6500 (plus around $100 per day spends - this might be too much with Dining plan, but I'd rather be over than under) Oh forgot to mention that our group is me, DH, DSD (18) DS (7)

Hope I'm making sense & thanks in advance

We are flying 1st nov this year and are paying 514 for an adult flight and 474 for our twins so you will have three adults and one child prices, children pay around 20% less an adult price for flights so i think you will get cheaper flights if waiting

We ooked with complete orlando last year then added flights when they came out and just paid a deposit

Virgin are great with special needs and they will assist you as much as they can you just need to callthe correct dept. they assisted me when i was pregnant with the twins as i have needles for injections and needed extra leg room due to clotting and they were fab

Good luck with your planning

Sounds like a great trip and something to look forward to - my son also has ASD and we have made 3 trips with him (4th coming up in Dec) - if you have any specific questions realting to making life easier we may be able to help.

Thank you both that's great, I'm sure I will have plenty of questions. DS has never flown before as we've always been to DLRP via eurotunnel so the whole flight thing is a bit daunting but with plenty of forward planning we're hoping it will go ok at least, thats one of the reasons we're thinking Virgin will perhaps be the best flight as I know they have the seat back tv screens which will help keep him amused!
