Trip Planning: Disney Multi-Day Tickets

Based on a WDW visit of 16/17 days I'm unsure of the most useful Disney tickets.

Three obvious choices:
1) 10 Day Hopper + Water Parks
2) 14 Day Ulimate
3) 21 Day Ulimate

Would be mainly a Disney trip. 10 Days at Disney Parks plus a couple of days at Water Parks would suffice.

Options 1 or 2 would seem the obvious choice. I believe the former is bought in the US and the latter in the UK. Problem with both is they expire in 14 days. Would like to spend both our first at last days in MK, but that needs more than 14 days.

Option 3 appears over kill simply to solve the one day outside of the 14 day range issue.

Is there an easy way to solve our connundrum of MK on Day 1 and Day 17?

Based on our planned usage; is Option 1 or Option 2 our best bet?

You can buy your tickets out there and they offer the option of like a ten day with no experation for additional cost so you dont have to worry about the 14 day expiry.

A few prices to work from, maybe cheaper elsewhere I just had a quick look

10 day hopper + waterparks never expire option Gate price $571.93 (£376) You can get cheaper from companies like Mapleleaf but still $537.00 (£353). These tix are OK if you only want to use a few days this year and then keep unused for a future year (same year would probably be better with an Annual pass)

14 day Ultimate £225
21 day Ultimate £243

No contest for me 21 day tix, only £18 more than 14 day, worth it for convenience.
This August we have 16 days OKW then 7 day cruise end with 2 nights at AKL. we want to go into MK after the cruise so bought 21 day tix even though we won't be able to use them for 7 days while on cruise.

Edit, 10 day MYW, hopper and water parks that expire with Mapleleaf work out at £227(gate price £236) so 14 day is £2 cheaper.

As the price difference between 14 and 21 day ultimates is relatively small I would go for the 21 day. I have been known to upgrade to the 21 just so we can have 15 days in the park!

Another thing you are probably not thinking about is it is nice to be able to go into a park in an evening or late afternoon for the fireworks, rather than be at a park the whole day. In your case I would go for the 21 day ticket. When we go for 14 days we always buy the 14 day ultimate as it is better value than the 7 day one.

When we go we always have tickets for all the parks for the whole holiday so we can park hop. We like Universal, Islands and Sea World just as much as the Disney parks so hop between all of them. A typical day for us would be get up early and hit one of the Disney parks, then go back to the hotel for a rest/swim then go into Universal/Islands on an afternoon/evening (we usually stay onsite at Universal), or if we don't have a rest we go to the shops. It also depends on the weather as Orlando is hit with storms that usually pass quickly but can sometimes take their time, so having the flexibility of being able to go to the Disney parks at any time during your holiday is well worth having.
