Hey everyone,

In April I'm getting married at Disney World, and honeymooning there after. I am a 20+ trip veteran of Disney World, but I haven't been in over five years. My fiancée has never been to Disney World, and I'm hoping to use the honeymoon to introduce her to something I love in the best and most thorough way possible. My fiancée is also a former professional chef (she went to culinary school and spent 10 years in the fine dining industry), and living in Seattle we are both exposed to a lot of great food, so I'm trying to also get the best food experience possible.

Even though we're going to be there for something like 10 days, I'm really working hard to make sure we get in the best restaurants. Even though we have a while before the ADR window opens up for us, I am starting planning early to give myself plenty of time to get things right.

One of the tougher ones for me is breakfast places. Most mornings we'll be grabbing something quick at the resort (pastries, coffee, fruit, etc.) and heading to the parks. But, on our relaxation days, we'll probably head out for breakfast. In the past, I've enjoyed eating at Chef Mickey's (I remember when it was originally located in the Downtown Disney area), but I've read some lackluster reviews of it. Still, this would be a good chance to visit the Contemporary resort and do some exploring, though we're probably also going to eat at California Grille one night. On the other hand, I've heard some quite good things about Tusker House, including that it has some more unique breakfast options.

So, in the context of two adults on their honeymoon looking for a good breakfast (after sleeping in that morning) on a day where we're likely to be just exploring resorts and not spending any time riding rides in the parks, what would you pick? And, for those of you who cast a vote, I'd be interested to know why you picked the one you did.

Personally, I would not do either of those options, unless you're really sold on a character meal. Tusker House would burn a park admission day, and since you're planning this on a non-park day, it doesn't really make sense.

Chef Mickey's is really loud, hectic and the food isn't that great.

If it were me, I'd head to The Wave, Kona, Boma, Kouzzina - someplace a little quieter with good food and atmosphere.

Good luck planning! I hope your trip is wonderful. :goodvibes

Thanks! We will have annual passes active at this point, so I'm not too concerned about burning a ticket. I already had both Kona and Kouzzina penned in for other days on the trip (we're staying at the Boardwalk, so Kouzzina will be easy, and my family has been eating Tonga Toast since it was originally available at Tangaroa Terrace), so we're definitely hitting those. Hadn't given much thought to either the Wave or Boma, but I'll look into them.

Since it is not a parks day I would consider Boma, Kona, or Grand FLoridian Cafe. If you want to be at the OCntemporary, I'd go with the Wave instead of Chef Mickey.

I agree with the suggestions of Boma and The Wave; I think both can give you a nice relaxing start to a 'quiet day'. Boma is good for having more choices and a few out-of-the-ordinary dishes. The Wave has both a menu and a smaller buffet that DH and I were very impressed with in terms of quality.

I would still go to Tusker if you can fit it in, but I'd do it on a day when you were going to the AK anyhow. It's fun with good characters in safari-style costumes that you won't see anywhere else, and the food is quite good for park food. Chef Mickey? Not so much - not when you really want to make an impression. If you want a 'wow' factor with characters, take her to breakfast in the Castle.

I voted for Tusker House but then I read your post. I highly recommend Boma. They do a fabulous breakfast and assuming that you are not staying there, you'll have an excuse the explore the resort.

Well, I'd already planned on Jiko for dinner and Sanaa for lunch, why not hit all three, right?

Well, between the two I voted for TH, but my first choice is Boma. The breakfast there doesn't have characters, but I like the food selections, the friendliness of the chefs who are happy to explain the dishes with African influences and of course, Frunch juice.

I voted for Tusker House - if you really want to do a character breakfast then I would highly recommend this one

The food is great but I also think that the setting, atmosphere and character interaction are fantastic :goodvibes

Of the two options in the poll, I chose TH but my first choice for breakfast on a non-park day is always Kona Cafe. Since you already have that planned, I agree with others suggesting Boma and I hear The Wave in the CR offers a nice breakfast buffet. I've also read glowing reviews of breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe. We're trying breakfast at The Wave and GFC on our upcoming trip. :thumbsup2

I'm sure you'll enjoy no matter what you choose. After all, it's your honeymoon and you're at Disney!! :wizard:  pixiedust:

Of the two I would pick Tusker House just because its different items than anywhere else. But I would probably choose somewhere else too.
