Trip Number Ten ~ We're Going Again! Plus a side trip!

Good Morning Shelly!!!!!!!!
I can't stand that you're home already! It's been too fast.:sad2: Hope DS11 gets the teachers he wants!!
How was the flight home?? How was Jack when he saw you? How did he do???
Anything new going on???

Shawna-
I swear it's my life. I'm the only person that stuff like that happens to. :confused3

And I keep telling myself those words every time something happens-- I burn myself on the iron bc I did something totally stupid (Note to self- you can't iron clothes while they are ON your body)-- and I say Second degree burns? That's Okay! I'm going to Disney!
I take MC to college and cry and snot and almost wreck on the way home and people point and laugh at me because I look like Alice Cooper's twin and I say "That's okay, I'm going to Disney!"

I'mma just throw it out there that all Heck is gonna break loose when I no longer have the option of making myself feel better with that little gem.:guilty:

Okay so what's up? Where are you? Knowing you, you are working on the TR!:goodvibes

Hope you slept last night.

So while we wait for that little fun time, I shall entertain the troops with a Jodi Story. I know you're all excited.:rotfl:

This is my life, I swear its true this just happened the way I'm writing it.

So I shimmied into my favoritest jeans in the whole world--- they are adorable, just the right shape, white. Cute.
I go to button them up and they are...... snug. :worried: What the heck??? So I say JODI, it's not you, they shrunk (even though I know don't dry a dang thing). You know what to do--- bend, squat, stretch them out, they'll be good as new.

And you all know what happened. As I bended and squatted and stretched them out, the whole thing ripped-- in the seam in the butt from the bottom allllllllll the way down the leg.

Now that, in and of itself, would be a LARGE hint to me it's time to start back lifting weights. But oh no. Because it's ME, there has to be more, right? of course there is.

The song playing out of my Ipod at that exact moment, leveled right in my ear, was John Mayer's Gravity--- and as I squatted and bended and ripped, the lyrics were "Gravityyyyyyyy, is getting the best of me."

Hello Universe. Thanks for the subtlety.:rolleyes1

You are too funny. Lol :)
That does suck though. As soon as I turned 40 my clothes started fitting tightly. Don't know why UGH!!!

We had an awesome reunion with Jack last night!! He did very well for my Dad. I think my Dad is going to be lonely without him now.

On my last load of laundry!! And am uploading the beach portion of the trip to photobucket right now!

Funny story Jodi!! :rotfl2::rotfl: 40's stink. No way around it. It just stinks. :( I started an exercise program at the beginning of summer and I don't really see too much results. And I really stuck to it. :confused3 Metabolism really slows down in your 40's I think. :sad2:

But hey, you are going to Disney in 3 DAYS!! :cool1:

I bet Jack was going nuts when he saw y'all! Dogs are so funny when they get excited to see someone! I'm sure your dad will miss Jack. Do you think he would consider getting a dog now, or is he not ready for that yet? Maybe he feels about dog-sitting the way many grandparents feel about baby-sitting - they love it for a while but then are glad to send them home with their parents!

Sounds like you have jumped back into real life with a bang! I felt tired just reading what all you have done since you got back! :faint:

That comment you made about starting your TR in a few weeks.........that was just a joke, right? :p J/K

ETA:
I don't know exactly how tickers work, but do you have news about next year already?

Jack freaks out when he sees us after being at school/work all day, so imagine what it was like when he finally saw us after 10 days!! :hyper: :crazy2::dance3: :yay: :faint: :rotfl:

I think it would do Dad a lot of good to get a dog, but he just doesn't want to right now. He sure loves his time with Jack though! Jack has a way of making you feel loved and needed, which is really good for Dad now. :)

Laundry is done! :cool1: Pictures are still being loaded. Waiting on the mail to get here after all those days, that should be a big mess of bills and junk! :crazy2:

No, that's my old ticker. It starts over again I guess. I need to get rid of it. Although we do hope to go back next August, just the last week of the month, not the 3rd week.

Okay so now that I have my laundry and cleaning done, here's a little bit about our trip...

We really, really missed not having ME when we got there!! :( It was no problem getting our one checked bag though. Very little wait for it to come. Getting the rental car was another story. There were about 8 rental car companies there and of course ours was the only one with a line. Each and every person had a problem. And by the time we got to the counter I could see it wasn't the customers fault, it was the employees. They were trying to hard sell you everything under the sun and when we declined it all they still tried to charge us $30 more than what we were booked at. :sad2: In the end we were charged the quoted price, but what a hassle. :headache:

Tampa airport is very nice and easy to navigate. Even driving out of it everything is very clearly marked and we found our road right away. :)

Did we like the beach?? Yes! Would I say we LOVED the beach? Not really. It was nice for a few days, but I'm glad we weren't staying any longer. We were very ready to get to WDW!! :yay: It was nice and fun, but I guess I just don't really enjoy walking around wet all the time. And all the sand just made me feel dirty all the time. Maybe it was just because it was so stinking hot and humid. IDK. :confused3 We did have a good time and DS14 really enjoyed it a lot more than he thought he would. He even said that he thinks maybe we should add on a few days at the beach every 2 years or so.

Onto Disney! We had no trouble navigating our way from Clearwater to Disney, even when our GPS died halfway there. (It wouldn't charge in the rental car :confused3) When we got to the YC our room was ready and we had been upgraded to a garden view. Which as you know ended up to be an awesome view of the gazebo, crescent lake, the lighthouse, part of the BW, and IllumiNations!! Awesome deal for all the more I paid with our agency special! :cool1:

The YC was great for the most part. Other than the housekeeping. We only actually had our room cleaned one time in 7 nights. :faint: We would get back to the room around 3pm or so and the room still wouldn't be cleaned. By then we would be resting and getting cleaned up for dinner, so it just wouldn't get cleaned. I finally went down to the front desk and requested a 9am cleaning Saturday and it finally got cleaned. Still not in love with SAB, but it wasn't as bad as last time. I think only because we knew when to avoid it. Everything else was wonderful and we enjoyed it.

The parks were way more crowded than we expected them to be, especially considering the last time we went in late Aug it was a ghost town!! I guess going one week earlier makes a huge difference. I know the locals were back in school down there, so IDK where everyone was coming from! :scared1: It's a good thing we had the FP+ or we probably wouldn't have gotten to do a whole lot, because my kids aren't waiting 60-120 minutes for anything.

The weather wasn't the best. Very hot and very humid. As in, no reason to even do your hair because the second you walked outside it went flat. Nasty feeling most of the time. It rained every single day. Some days it was a quick shower, some days it lasted a few hours, and others it rained all afternoon and evening.

We had some great meals! We really enjoyed all of them except for one and it was just okay.

Probably needless to say, we didn't make it to Typhoon Lagoon. After the beach, the rain, and the humidity, the thought of walking around wet all day just wasn't very enticing. :( I won't tell you what we did do, although some of you can probably guess.

DS11 got chosen to open two places throughout the week. He really enjoyed that! :goodvibes

The Magicbands worked well. (Although they were hot and sweaty :crazy2:)The only glitch we had was that they had DS14 in as a child and he didn't have to do the finger scan. I had heard prior to going that there were CM's at the 4 resorts that were doing the testing and they were asking the guests questions and getting opinions on it and everything, we never encountered that. The only CM who questioned us was on the way out at MK on Saturday and she wanted to know if we had My Disney Experience on our Iphones. When we told her that we did not have Iphones and that we used MDE on our Ipad and Ipod, she said - okay thanks, I am looking for people using it on their Iphones... :confused3

Transportation was very good for the most part. Other than ME on the way back to the airport. We were the first stop. Apparently there were other people that were supposed to get on beside us and the other family that got on as well, because the driver paced back and forth with his clipboard waiting for more people to show up. They never did. We then stopped at the BC and a few families got on. Then the BWI and a few more people boarded. Then onto CBR where I think half of the resort boarded and we were now pretty full. Then onto the airport. First stop terminal A, of course we were terminal B. More time on the bus. Good grief. We barely had time to grab food from McDonalds before it was time to board the plane. :faint:

Okay, I think that's it for now. Going to work on the pics some more! If you have any questions just ask and I will try to answer.

Sounds like a great trip overall!

I agree with you about the beach being a two day affair though. That's about all I want to stay as well. That's one of the reasons that we always do the 3 night cruise. We get two days at the beach that way and that's enough. I've also found that with our WDW/DCL combo trips, doing the beach at the end works best for us. When we did the beach first, I was just like you and couldn't wait to get to Disney. I spent most of the cruise waiting for it to be over. :confused3 Also, we found that we were more inclined to enjoy relaxing at the end of a WDW trip than before. Beforehand I am pumped and just ready to get there and do everything, but afterwards, I am exhausted and the beach is just what I need. I don't think we will ever do the cruise first again.

I also need to apologize for giving you the wrong info a while back. I told you that our schools would be back in session during your trip, but they actually didn't start back until this week. They usually don't start back that late... almost always the week before, but for some reason they started a little later this year. So maybe all those people you had to deal with were North Carolinians! I'm sorry it was so crowded. Hooray for those Magic Bands though!!! I keep checking to see if they are available for me for our trip, but so far nothing. I'm wondering when they will be released. I hate not knowing. I don't want it to come out for my trip and somehow I not now about it until it's too late.

I hate you missed TL, but I understand why. You feel like you've been to a water park when you walk around in the humidity all the time! And all that rain doesn't help either. I hate the weather wasn't ideal. That's something I worry about every year.

I can't believe they didn't clean your room! What the heck?!?! :confused3 I don't understand that. It seems like there are some housekeeping issues in the deluxe resorts. Is that just how they work? I know we've stayed in condos before that only have weekly housekeeping??? I didn't think any of the Disney resorts were like that though. I'm baffled.

I can't believe you got that awesome room for so cheap though! You really hit the jackpot on that one! And I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed all of your meals! I'm looking forward to those reviews since you had so many places on your list that we've never been to.

Can't wait to see all the pictures and hear about the fun stuff you did!

I agree.. walking around wet is the worst..this is why I won't go in Aug or Sept..rain, and humidity:scared1: I live where that is a problem, so I do not want to visit Disney with the same circumstances..and my luck, whatever week I went it would be like that!
I have to know~and you can PM me if you need to...should I keep my ressie at BOG or cancel it.. I am still on the fence and need something to fill that time period if I cancel it....
Glad the room at YC was better~ I am really looking forward to it~especially since I booked a Garden View...
Are they excited about school yet?

At least you know that the beach isn't someplace that you want to spend an entire vacation. We feel the same way. I like the beach but I don't love it enough to give up a Disney trip for it. Maybe that's why the CBR and our family are a perfect match....beachy feel but still in Disney. :beach:

Rinky, we are pondering another Disney cruise but haven't decided yet. Like ya'll, when we cruised at the beginning of the trip, we were ready to get our behinds to Disney. I'm afraid if we cruise at the end, we'll want to be back at Disney. Decisions! Decisions!

What the heck was up with your mousekeeper? She only came once and that was because you had to call them to come clean? That's crazy.

I'm looking forward to reading your dining reviews as some of your restaurants are on our "we may try" list for our May, 2014 trip.

Yeah, I don't know how people go to the beach for a week.

And I think you are right, we should have done the beach after Disney. I did spend most of my beach time just wanting to get to WDW. :hyper: As in wishing we had only done one night at the beach! Oh well, I'm glad the kids had the experience and now we know how to do it better next time.

I kept thinking the day we skipped TL that you were going to be so disappointed in me!!! :rotfl:

I'm not sure what was up with the housekeeping. We arrived on Monday afternoon and we went to Epcot after we unpacked, so we put up the privacy sign for Tues because there was no need for them to come in. Wed morning we were at the resort and weren't going to MK until later, so we kept the sign on that day as well. By Thurs I really wanted the room cleaned. So we took the sign off and left the resort at about 8am. Came back later in the afternoon and it hadn't been cleaned. So DH found housekeeping out in the hall and got us new towells and supplies. Same thing happened Fri, we were out until late afternoon and they still hadn't cleaned it. :confused3 That's when I went down and requested a morning cleaning for Sat.

We sure did luck out on the room!! :cool1: I was so happy about that. It was great! :goodvibes

Are they excited about school yet?

Yeah, it was just a yucky feeling most of the time. :sad2:

Keep BOG!!! ::yes:: It was an awesome experience and the highlight of our MK evening that day, since the rain and crowds pretty much messed up the rest of it.

You should ask for a gazebo view, facing Epcot when you check in!! So great! :thumbsup2 We were in 3087, but there was no daybed. So that probably wouldn't work for you if all 3 kids are going.

Yes, the kids seem ready to get back to school and see all their friends everyday. Me, not so much!! :faint:

I kept thinking the day we skipped TL that you were going to be so disappointed in me!!! :rotfl:

Me disappointed... no way! ;) I know that even us die hard planners have to change things on the fly every once in a while. I would've probably done the same thing. If you book the same deal for 2014, you'll get another chance to go then. ::yes:: And since you likely won't be going to the beach on that trip, you might be more inclined to go to a WP.

Oh, I meant to tell you to take a guess at how many bookings I got off the big gymnastics trip to Orlando???? You might want to sit down cause this is a BIG number!!!! .............

:rolleyes2

Yep, nada! After I spent an entire Saturday pricing quotes for people, the coach then finds out that if the girls want to participate in the Bowl performance, they have to stay at the 'host hotel' and the deal includes US tickets!!! I was furious! Needless to say, that was a complete waste of my time! I sure hope things have been going better for you.

Yeah I love the beach but only for so long. I don't like being wet all day long. I think that's why I'm not crazy about water parks. As for the beach I usually just lay in the sun and relax unless I'm really hot and need to go cool off in the water.
Doing the beach at the end of your trip would probably be the way to go next time.
I hate the mouse keeping does the majority of their cleaning in the afternoon like that. The same thing always happens to us. We're out all day and when we come back to relax and get ready for dinner- that's when they wanna clean the room.
Well tomorrow at this time I'll be landing in FL!! So excited! I'm celebrating my 42nd b-day at Narcoossees Fri. Night :)

The resort looks beautiful, and it sounds like y'all had a good time, but I have a feeling of what you will say about the beach part of the trip. ;)

Now go have a blast at Disney!!

........and that feeling was just what you said! ;) I could kinda tell from your updates at the beach that while you enjoyed it, it wasn't your cup of tea. The clincher was when you posted that you had gone to the beach that morning, and were now at the pool........and it was something like 9:30 in the morning!

Also, when I was reading your updates, I did worry that you were wishing you were at Disney. I agree, next time it would be better to add a couple of beach days at the end......time to decompress from Disney and enjoy some relaxing time before the trip home.

Most of our beach vacations have been for a week. Maybe we're just lazy beach bums who can sit and stare at the horizon all day!

But I'm glad you liked it ok, and by the way, the Sandpearl looks gorgeous!!

I didn't even think about it until you mentioned it that you didn't go to TL! I can't say I blame you. It probably would have been a zoo, too. It's no fun to be in a pool when you can't even swim around without bumping into someone. I have a guess of where you went instead. ;)

Sorry the weather didn't exactly cooperate. I guess you have to go with the "it could always be worse" attitude. At least there were no hurricanes! Every trip I have gone on with DD this summer, they were having record heat. :scared: DL hot as heck, Utah over 100 degrees, NYC upper 90's. But it could have been worse!

The YC sounds really nice. That's crazy about mousekeeping being so erratic. But that can happen at any resort. Seems I've heard that line a time or 200. :rotfl2:

I can't wait to hear about DS11 and his opening gigs! That's awesome! He's such a cutie!

Looking forward to your dining reviews and especially the new restaurants you went to.

Your trip sounds like it was a big success overall! Can't wait to see all your pics.

Aww man. I was hoping you would have loved loved loved the beach and had to do it every time.
I'm glad you experienced it, even though it wasn't a must do every time.
I guess maybe I enjoy the sand flea feel--- I could park my behind at the beach for a month and not move and never blink or wonder why I was itchy scratchy.:confused3:rotfl2:

I'm so happy that you had an awesome resort experience at the YC, minus the housekeeping situation. Weird.

As far as crowds--- people that are there this week are saying it's much more crowded this year than ever before, so I'm guessing it's just that way across the board now. :sad2: I read that a lot of UK people are there- maybe that was who you ran into all day every day?

Well I'm glad you're home. Now I shall continue with my FOW.:lmao:

I am not a beach person either...I can't stand sand! It just makes my skin crawl!!! I do enjoy some downtime and being lazy on vacation, but usually only for a few hours. I need to go, go, go!

Can't wait to hear more about your trip and see lots of pictures!

I think I could beach it. For 2 days. MAX! And not if it is beating down hot...warm with a great breeze!:beach: Then take me somewhere else...
Thanks for the :thumbsup2 on BOG...Can't wait to get to our room and I hate that the cleaning was like that!
Jodi...what is FOW???

Yeah, I think I like the beachy feel a lot, but not really the actual beach so much. :rotfl:

I guess when I was planning I was thinking - save the best for last. But now I can see that I need to get to WDW right away!! :hyper:

Good luck with your cruise decision! :goodvibes

That's true. If we get to book that same special next year we will have the option to do a waterpark. And it will may be more likely to happen since we won't be going to the beach! :upsidedow

None??? Really? That stinks!! So much work, so much wasted time. :sad2: It stinks, I know. It's hard to not get discouraged at times.

Hang in there!

Yeah, it was way too hot to lay in the sun much past about 10am. Maybe that took away from the enjoyment a little for us. :confused3 Oh well, we still had a good time. I'm just glad we didn't plan to stay any longer!!

IDK what was up with the housekeeping. We've never had that happen to us before. Our room has always been cleaned by the time we got back to the room around 2-4pm. So strange! And we would even see them in our hall, near our room when we left for the parks in the mornings.

Have a great trip!! :cool1:

Was it really 9:30am??? Yeah, it was HOT. As in skin crawling hot.

Yep, I for one was wishing we could just get the beach over with and get to Disney!! We sure didn't waste anytime getting out of there and on the road the last morning! :rotfl:

Yes, the weather could have been worse I suppose. Although sometimes the clouds were so big and dark it looked like we were in for a heck of a storm! :scared1:

Overall it was a really nice trip. Not our best or favorite, but not our worst either.

Yeah, I wouldn't say that the beach is ever going to be a must do for us. But I'm glad we went and had the experience. :)

We sure lucked out with our YC room! ::yes:: Not so fortunate on the housekeeping situation though. :rotfl:

I wondered if this week was maybe more crowded than when we were there 2 years ago. The crowds sure didn't ever seem to be getting any less as our week went on and as we got closer to this week. :confused3 Guess the secret is out. Yeah, we did see a lot of people from the UK. But there were also plenty of Americans there as well.

You're going to Disney TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not a beach person either...I can't stand sand! It just makes my skin crawl!!! I do enjoy some downtime and being lazy on vacation, but usually only for a few hours. I need to go, go, go!

Can't wait to hear more about your trip and see lots of pictures!

Yeah, between the intense heat and the sand I felt so gross the whole time. :crazy2:

I guess Disney is just more my style! :cool2:

I think I could beach it. For 2 days. MAX! And not if it is beating down hot...warm with a great breeze!:beach: Then take me somewhere else...
Thanks for the :thumbsup2 on BOG...Can't wait to get to our room and I hate that the cleaning was like that!
Jodi...what is FOW???

Yep - 2 days at the beach is good! :thumbsup2

I hope you guys have a great experience at BOG like we did!! :wizard:

Well, it used to be FOF - Freak Out Friday!! Whenever we would leave for vaca on a Saturday we always called the day before FOF. Because, well we tend to freak out a bit with excitement, anxiety, packing, repaking, you name it!! :crazy2: :hyper: :cool1::dance3: :faint: But, Jodi is leaving on Friday, therefore causing Freak Out Thursday, and..... well, Jodi usually ends up needing another freak out day - causing Freak Out Wednesday!!!

Did you get all that?!! :lmao:
