Hi, all,
We just returned from a trip to CA which included four days at DL & DCA. We stayed three nights at the Paradise Pier and highly recommend it! Very pleasant decor and wondeful staff, even during a 3:45 AM fire alarm on our first night. It was just our floor, and the staff came out to pass out blankets since we were all standing around in pajamas! No word on what the cause was, but we were allowed back in about a half hour later.
DL was packed (as we knew it would be), but DCA was terrific. We are WDW vets, and DCA is my second favorite park (EPCOT will always be first for me!). We love Soarin', Screamin', and the shows and atmosphere at DCA.
A few WDW/DLR comparisons for those interested:
Turtle Talk with Crush is just as good at DCA as it is at Epcot, and there is NO WAIT! The secret is not out about it, I guess.
Tower of Terror and Space Mountain are both just different enough between WDW and DLR that it's great fun to experience them both and compare -- I think we like DL's Space better, and ToT is a toss-up.
I love how you can walk between parks and to Downtown Disney at DLR. We enjoy using WDW transportation when we go there, but it can be very time-consuming.
I'm sure I'll think of more comparisons after I get some rest!
We ate at Tortilla Joe's (good), Rainforest Cafe (a family tradition -- very good), and Yamabuki at Paradise Pier (expensive but GREAT), plus a few counter service places. Breakfasts at Tomorrowland Terrace (good value, because it includes a beverage), and Liberty Belle Tavern (a bit more expensive, but very good).
If you plan to use a credit cards at the parks, be sure to bring ID, which they check every time. I applaud that policy!
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask!
