Should I get the trip insurance? I will be needing to pay off my trip by friday, for my Sept. trip, and I am worried that a hurricane could mess with our trip. Do I really need to get the insurance? Or would they still help me out if there was a hurricane?? Anyone with experiance from last year, who didn't have insurance??

Yep, I got the insurance. It may have cost me $45 but it was nice to feel some protection should I need it. :flower:

Disney informed me that their insurance DOES NOT cover for hurricanes. It only covers for travel mishaps or illness. Therefore, I would not get the insurance if you are trying to protect yourself again hurricans. Also, if your flight get's canceled and decide to rebook your trip for a different week, Disney DOES NOT charge a change fee, only a fee if you wish to cancel (obtain a refund). The only thing you may loose is a promotional rate, such as free dining.

I just bought it for the first time for our June, 2006 trip. Mainly because we are renting points and the cost is non-refundable. We will also be buying La Nouba tickets 6 months out and will have airfare for 5 people. I didn't buy it because of weather concerns but for other things that might come up. It covers a broad range of things that could go wrong and for $79 it was worth it. Check out www.insuremytrip.com . I'm not sure what kind of coverage you can get for a trip that is coming up so soon.

We are thinking about it. We already have the insurance for our flights.

I've read this several times on the boards and I'm confused. I have the insurance info. from Disney (Travel Guard) and it says this:
The Insurer will pay this benefit up to the Maximum Limit shown on the Schedule of Benefits if an Insured is prevented from taking the Trip due to any of the following unforeseen
reasons: (a) Sickness, Injury, or death of an Insured, Immediate Family Member,Traveling Companion or Business Partner. Injury or Sickness must be so disabling as to reasonably
cause a Trip to be canceled or interrupted; (b) Inclement Weather or the occurrence of a Natural Disaster that causes complete cessation of travel services at the point of
departure and/or Destination; (c) the Insured’s principal residence is made uninhabitable due to fire or flood or similar Natural Disaster;

So I called CRO and spoke with Susan Jean. She said it DOES cover hurricanes, but gave me the number to Travel Guard. I called Travel Guard and spoke with Brad and he said it does cover hurricanes, but there are some stipulations. WDW would have to have a mandatory evacuation and/or close the resorts, or if you lived in a hurricane area and had damage to your home or area that prevented you from traveling it would be covered. Also if driving if you were prevented from reaching WDW due to closures on the way there, that would be covered.

Have other people heard differently? It does seem to leave a lot to individual interpretation.
