Where should I look to find trip insurance/cancellation insurance for our Disney trip from Canada? I do have some insurance through work...and credit cards...but I want to make sure I have full coverage.

If you are a member of CAA you could try there. Or I often use http://www.allianz-assistance.ca/ for simple trip cancellation/delay/interruption insurance. I don't know how they are for claims as I've never had to make one, yet....... :thumbsup2

We have pretty good travel insurance thru our RBC VISA credit card. When we have needed more, we just call them up and pay the extra amount necessary.

I purchase the yearly travel insurance plan though my auto / home insurance company. It covers trips up to 30 days and has trip cancellation coverage as well at a pretty reasonable cost. You can purchase the same through banks / blue cross / Manulife Financial. Most travel agents seem to recommend the Royal Bank Insurance. Just make sure you read up on pre-existing conditions coverage (or lack theerof) if applicable.

If you (or any of your travel companions) have a pre-existing condition (even something as common as asthma), be sure to get an underwritten policy that will cover that illness should an episode occur while you are in Florida. These policies are more expensive but will pay out for any required treatment. Manulife offers a good product that can be underwritten when necessary (they also offer a standard policy with no medical questions similar to the one offered by RBC). Remember that anything you have seen your doctor about within the 3 months before your travel date will be considered a "pre-existing condition".

Desjardins Financial offers a good standard product as well.

And yes, check your credit card to see if they offer coverage for travel as well :thumbsup2 .

if all of the people in your family are younger you should try TravelCuts -- regular insurance rates are calculated to cover all ages (including the elderly, who are more likely to use the health insurance when away), so they're higher than what TravelCuts offer.

Found this out by accident when I was insurance shopping for one trip. The RBC Insurance person told me that's how it works when I questioned why their rates were so much higher than TravelCuts (which is also technically RBC Insurance).
