Does anyone have a tried and tested company for travel insurance? I just want to cover my trip in case I have to cancel -- not health insurance while I'm away.

TIA

What are the reasons for cancellation, most policies are not a "for any reason". Second, trip insurance really is most beneficial for the medical piece (which is why domestic trips are rarely a good value). Remember, insurance covers non-reimbursed costs, lets say for Disney that could be a change fee on an airline and depending the package/room stay maybe a night stay. That's it. Car rentals are cancelable (for the most part), you can change your air dates, and most of the hotel can be cancelled (if not all depending on when it is done). As you can see the total "out of pocket" would be pretty low for just a small number of people (it could be up there with a larger group, but it would also be a much more expensive trip in the first place) and when looking at the cost of insurance, the cost to loss ratio is too high IMO. Insurance should cover expenses that would be detrimental to your finances, would $300 - $500 really impact you once, when compared to the $100 - $150 of insurance expenses annually?

We always get ours through AAA, but usually only when we book a package through them. I'm not sure if they offer any if you don't book something with them as well.
