Trip Insurance

You can add it later, but I think there's a 60 day prior time frame. I just added it last week for our May cruise from CSA travel, which seems to come highly recommended from these boards. It was only $85 for my family of 4 for 4 nights, cruise only. I just felt I'd rather be safe than sorry, never knowing when a family member could become ill or you'd get called back for a funeral, etc...

I plan on getting mine from Liberty Travel. $200 vs. $316 using Disneys for 7 night family of 4. Anyone have any comments. Has anyone used Liberty Travel for insurance or know of someone who has?

For families, I think it is worth it. For two adults, I find the cost too high. One possibility to check your credit card. Some offer free travel insurance simply for paying the entire cost of the trip with that card. If you can find one with no annual fee, it's a huge bargain if you travel a lot. Some cards even include car rental insurance.

I had purchased the trip insurance but now find out that for us it ws a major waste of money. It does not cover pre-existing conditions so since my godson who we are taking has cancer, it would not cover us if it was something to do with him!

aprilgail2 -

I booked my cruise through AAA Travel and their insurance will indeed cover pre-existing conditions, but only if you purchase it within 7 days of booking the trip.

I have read thru several other travel insurance companies statements of coverage and some do have the same provisions.

Just a suggestion - Since this is such a significant issue for you, it might be worthwhile to cancel your existing cruise and then rebook on the same cruise, if there's enough time.

Here's two more companies that cover pre-existing conditions if you purchase coverage right after booking a cruise:

TravelGuard will cover pre-existing conditions if purchased within 7 days of your initial deposit, they're at :
Travelguard Insurance

Another company that covers pre-existing conditions if you purchase when you book the cruise is at: ProtectAssist

The only cruise insurance I have used was the AAA and I have never had a claim with them.

Hope this helps

I will have to check into that today! When I checked the Disney Cruise website yesterday the price of the cruise I booked over a year ago is almost 1500 higher now than what I paid...but I will call AAA and see what they can do.

I found this great site called insuremytrip.com. It'll give you all the insurance companies that offer the type of insurance that youre looking for. What I like is that everything is right there up front for comparison. Check it out, it's great.
