Did you purchase the trip insurance? I just booked a vacation package for Sept. 22-27 that included the trip insurance. If I cancel and get my full deposit back, will I still be charged for the trip insurance??? :confused3 :confused3

Is it too late to change my reservation and remove the trip insurance?

If you cancel your trip you get all your $ back except for what you paid in insurance. We bought insurance for our first trip this coming October b/c with kids you never know if they might get sick.

Trip insurance is usually non-refundable. Did you just book through Disney? It seems I have read here of people who have had the insurance removed from their package because they didn't realize it was added when they booked. As far as cancelling your reservation and getting the insurance refunded too, I don't think that will happen.

Yes. If you get the trip insurance you pay the insurance no matter what. I guess it is all a matter of opinion. I personally don't get the insurance.

Disney will allow you to reschedule your trip free of charge(I have heard people say they were charged $50 but I have rescheduled before and was not charged). Worse case if I really had to cancel (can't see myself not rescheduling for a later month, but if I had to), it is a $200 charge. The trip insurance is something like $65 per adult(is that correct?) So if I had to cancel it would cost me a few bucks more. If I didn't cancel or just rescheduled I have extra $$ to spend in Disney!

I usually fly Southwest so that helps with flights. If you need to cancel your flight, they credit you the $$ you spent into an account which you have 1 year to use.

So basically I skip the insurance figuring if I could not make my trip (which happened last year), I would just reschedule for a later time.

Maybe for some peoples situation it pays though.

Well, I took advantage of their free dining promotion. If we were to cancel and reschedule at a later date, we would not be able to benefit from this promotion anymore, correct? Would we also have to pay for the difference in rates at during the rescheduled rates?

You would have to pay the rates for whatever season you are changing too. You cannot get a package in value season and the reschedule to prime at the same value rate, you would have to pay the difference. On the other hand, your whole reservation goes with the rate from your first day. If your first day is value and the rest is prime, your whole reservation will be at the value rate. hope this helps.:)

You would loose free dining if you rescheduled outside of the free dining dates. The only way you would get free dining is if you started your trip before Sept 22 and they would also have to have availability at your resort for the package. You may have to switch resorts to get the free dining package. There are limited numbers of rooms available with the free dining package.

We had purchased the trip insurance and later spoke w/ a CM that told us there are ways to get around rescheduling your trip w/out having to use the insurance. So I asked her to remove it. She came back on the phone and told me that it had already been on the package too long to cancel but she could talk w/ guest services and perhaps they would remove it. So she came back on the phone and told me they removed it from the package, so it can be removed if you get the right CM.
