I will be 45 days out on Sunday which means I need to decide weather or not to add trip insurance to my package or not like now.
For those of you who don't get the insurance, why don't you?
What the cancelation terms or penalitys?
Those who do it why would you not go without it?
Please need all the info I can get.
Thanks everyone.;)

We get it when it will cost more to cancel than if we didn't have it. If I get a really good deal on non refundable airline tickets and a disney package, I get trip insurance. If I am driving and just have a room only reservation, I pass on the insurance because the one night I would have to pay is cheaper than the insurance would be.

Have you looked into insuremytrip.com? That is who I use anymore. I got the link from mousesavers. I haven't bought trip insurance for a few years, but the last time I bought it they were cheaper and had better coverage than disney did.

I just bought insurance last week on our upcoming trip. Reasoning because we are gone for 3 weeks part of which is on a cruise ship far, far from what I consider good hospitals; and the potential for hurricanes. I compared prices on squarmouth.com & got a great deal. Significantly less & it covers a lot more than the Disney plan. Granted it might take a little bit longer should I need to file a claim (knock on wood) but I felt it well worth the wait.:goodvibes

Bought it through our TA, who used Access America, and received coverage less than half Disney's price. In addition, the coverage was MUCH better.

The reason: because anything can happen - from illness, accidents, plane delays which might cause them to miss the cruise boarding and to secure medical coverage while outside the States which may not be covered by regular medical insurance.

$144 is small price to pay in addition to the thousands already invested in vacation.

We also bought the insurance for our trip this winter. AAA has some really attractive rates on their policies when you book a Disney trip through them. I think it was $68 a person and that covers the Disney portion of the package in addition to the plane tickets that we booked separately.
