Trip Insurance Question

DH and I are stuck in Florida a couple of extra nights. Yes, I know, not a bad place to be stuck, ha ha!! :) We purchased trip insurance as we went to Disney and took a cruise, but now I'm wondering if the insurance will pay for any of the extra expenses we've incurred these past couple of days. We had to pay for two extra nights in a hotel, car rental for two extra nights, and of course meals. We couldn't fly home when we were supposed to because of the bad snowstorm in Michigan, our flight to Detroit was cancelled yesterday and they couldn't get us on another plane until tomorrow (Thursday).

We did make a claim on trip insurance a few years ago (death in the family that delayed the start of our trip), but I'm wondering if weather related problems are covered. I really didn't read all the "fine print" so I'm not sure, but figured people here might know. :)

We will probably end up spending about $400 that we wouldn't have had to spend had we returned when we should. :( Anyone else ever been in the same boat, and did you turn in a claim to your insurance and did they pay?

It definitely should...that's what it is for :) Just make sure to save all your receipts to file. You might want to call the help line now and alert them to the situation. They will have a form that you submit with the receipts.
