Its been a while since I looked into this. I used insuremytrip.com last time, 4 years agoand I got it and it was like 45.00, but now it's coming out as 150.00? Not much different in the price of the trip. Why is this??? Have I just been away too long??? :confused3

And since it is so much, should I just go with Disney's?? But I get flights on my own, so that wouldn't be covered with Disney would it??

This is for a resort WDW trip.

HELP! lol TIA

Are you cruising or booking a resort package? If you're on a cruise, DCL's insurance won't cover flights (or anything else) you book on your own. I find the coverages to be low, and there is no waiver of pre-existing conditions.

I have been getting my trip insurance from the Trip Insurance Store (www.tripinsurancestore.com) most recently. They deal with several policies each from 5 top companies.

Disney will not cover your flights unless they book them. The only advantage to Disney is that if you cancel for any reason after the pay in full date they will let you apply the non-refundable balance to a future cruise. There are a lot more limitations on typical insurance policies you may or not get you money back depending upon the reason you can't cruise. I feel that in general the outside plans are better values and provide better coverage.

For our Baltic Cruise in July I bought the Disney insurance since my FIL has cancer and I might have to cancel at the last minute. Since we didn't buy outside insurance within 14 days of first payment and pre-existing conditions are excluded from every insurance policy Disney made sense. Disney's offer to allow you to apply the penalty is a Disney benefit not from their insurance company.

Since we bought our own flights and are in England for a week before the cruise I bought another policy through insuremytrip to cover that time but that is mainly for medical, delayed baggage etc.

Hope this makes sense.

There are a few companies with policies that will cover pre-existing conditions if purchased within 24 hours of making the final payment: CSA and HTH Worldwide.

Thanks! It is a resort, not a cruise.
