DH & I are taking my MIL to WDW next December. However, she has to put in for her vacation time for all of 2006 in two weeks!

Does anyone have any insight on which week would be better to go, the first week or the second week of December? We are looking for lower crowds (of course!).

Any opinions would be great!

We just returned and had a wonderful time---very low crowds. We arrived the Monday after Thanksgiving. Be aware of when they tape the Christmas parade. It was being done the 1st weekend in Dec. That brought in crowds of teenagers, whose band or dance line, or whatever, was performing in the parade. Also, check out the Pop Warner dates. This also brings in a crowd of people . Have a wonderful time planning your trip.

How do you check the pop warner dates? We will probably avoid weekends and go Mon-Fri.

I checked the guide that predicts crowds and it show mostly 4's and so that will be great!!

We have also been the week after Thanksgiving and that was good too.

We want to go a little closer to Christmas next year. So we are plannin for Dec 13 for 4 nights!! Surprise Christmas present for DD if I can keep it a secret!! :goodvibes

I say anytime from the week after Thanksgiving to the week before Christmas you will be fine!! :wizard:

Wish I was leaving this Wednesday!! :goodvibes

Hello,

You are doing the right thing planning now - that is what i exactly did this time last year.

Well, we just got back this pass Thursday from our Nov. 29 - Dec. 9 trip.
This was a great week - very beautiful.
Although, i anticipated lower crowds than what i was told - it was still better than going during spring break -.
We were at MK on Wedn. Nov. 30 and the crowds were really low and then
went back again the following Wedn. Dec. 7 - and boy it was extremely crowded - thank god we only went back to see Spectromagic Parade and Wishes. I think it was the POP Warner people.

I would do this time of week again - you won't be dissappointed.

Have a wonderful time planning!! :wizard:

We went last year Dec. 5-16 and practically had the parks to ourselves, at least it felt like it. Never waited more than 5 minutes for any ride and most all were walk-ons. IOA and US were even more abandoned, it was so nice we actually didn't know what to do around 4pm because we had done everything in the parks numerous times!!! The first week we were there was pretty warm low 80's high 70's but by the time we left on the 16th it was only in the 50's, but still much warmer than it is here in Northern Wisconsin!!
Will be going next year Nov.26th -Dec 7th and hoping for the same types of crowds. We will be avoiding MK the weekend of the taping of the christmas parade, we will do IOA/US and also Busch Gardens during that time frame.

I think it is funny how differnet people can be in the parks on the same days and have completely differing views on the crowd levels. We were in the Magic Kingdom on Wednesday Dec 7th and didn't think that the crowds were that bad at all. The only place that we really experienced alot of people was in Fantasyland (which I thought was always packed.) We were able to ride Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad and several other rides numerous times. It was an extra magic hours evening so that may have contributed to the increase in crowds experienced by others later in the evening.

We wouldn't hesitate to again during Pop Warner week but I wouldn't stay at a value during that time (personally, I wouldn't stay there anytime but that is just my preference.)
