I have just made reservations for the first 10 days in Dec. I was sooo excited and thought I would come online to check out some info. What I see over and over are the many posts here which are negative about both DL and DCA. It has sure burst my bubble. I hope to find that it will be worth it afterall. Has anyone been lately and had just the best experience? Please let me know.

Hi Northern Girl, and welcome! :)

Please don't worry when you read negative posts, the vast majority of us here LOVE the Disney parks, even despite a few negatives. It's a MAGICAL place overall and even with cutbacks and rehabs, and whatever else we like to complain about, you'll still find lots to love at Disneyland and DCA.

Plus you'll be going when all the holiday activities are in full swing, even more fun! Many of us are Southern California locals who go to both parks often (we got at least twice a month in the off season) and the magic is still there each and every time.

Enjoy! :earsgirl:

I went to DL & DCA in April of this year. It was my first time at DCA and I have been to DL many a time. My sister and I went together (I am 30 and she is 36). We LOVED the new park and don't know why so many people talk it down. It was definately worth it and the Soaring over California ride there is an absolute must. You will have tons of fun, I guarantee! My sister loved it so much she went back in June with my mom for 5 days! Just make sure that you go with the mind set that you are going to the happiest place on earth and that nothing is going to spoil your visit. Have a terrific time, you deserve it!

I really appreciate hearing those positives. My husband and I are going to surprise our kids, 11 & 7, it is their Christmas present from us and I have very high hopes that we are going to have the most wonderful time. I don't plan on telling them until we get to the airport in Calgary.....if I can last that long.

Thanks again.

I just got back from a wonderful 4 night stay at GC, and visited both parks and DD. Please don't weigh the negative posts too heavily. This was one of our best trips ever! Things were a little different with the heightened security, but it just reassured us even more.

Both parks are still great! Parts of Fantasyland were closed, but there was still much to enjoy. DCA is a great park too...I think a lot of people who write negative posts about it are expecting another DL. Just keep in mind that the park is smaller, but the rides and attractions there are very enjoyable, especially Soarin'!

You'll have a wonderful time!

Northern Girl - don't let those negative floks get to you! DH & I went to DCA & Disneyland last May and loved all of it. We usually visit Disneyland every two years (more often when we can manage it!) DCA is a wonderful park - it's not Disneyland (DUH!) and has its' own charm. Dowtown Disney is wonderful - great restaurants (a little pricey!) and great stores! You'll have a great time!

Just wanted to say a very big THANK YOU to those of you who have replied. You have lifted my spirits and I am getting very excited. I think I may crack under the pressure of knowing we are going and not telling the kids yet. I need to remain strong though....I think they are going to just scream when they finally hear that we are not only going to DISNEYLAND (yeah) but that they are also going to miss a week of school :) Thanks again.
