My hubby and I are taking our 8 y/o son, 6 y/o dd and 3 y/o ds to WDW in 52 days. We have the dining option and a friend has given some recommendations.

We will be arriving late on a Monday night, like 9 pmish. I bought 2 day tickets.
So Tuesday and Wed will be Magic Kingdom days.

I really am so lost as to what i am suppose to do with meals.

It says 1 table meal, 1 quick meal and one snack.

Are reservations needed for the quick meals and table meals? Do I just call and tell them our name and the time we will be there, sorry stupid question.

The snacks??

I am so confused/

For counter service or "quick" meals, you do not need reservations. These are places where you go up to a counter to order and there are several inside MK to choose from. For your table service, you should make an advanced dining reservation (ADR). Most people book those 180 days out. You will have a few places inside MK but there are more at the resorts. I would do this soon because people tend to book way in advance and you may not get your first or second choices of places to eat. The best place to get all of the information on dining is at allearsnet.com. They even have the menus out there and the phone number to call for your ADR's is listed also.

Your snack credit is for just that. It could be a cup of hot chocolate, a mickey ice cream bar, a box of popcorn, a bottle of water, etc.

If you are staying for 2 nights, you will have 2 table service credits, 2 counter service credits and 2 snack credits per person. Some of the sit down places require 2 credits rather than 1 so make sure you make your decisions based on that. You can either go for one nice table service that requires two credits are two less expensive table service meals that are one credit each.

I'm sure others will post who will give you a better description than I did but I think you should go to allearsnet.com and look at the menus/prices to get you started. It does list which are table service and which are counter service plus the locations (you won't want to book something at Epcot for example).

If you want to stay in MK and not venture out of the park to eat, Crystal Palace is a great table service buffet with the Pooh Characters. You can't go wrong with either breakfast, lunch or dinner. It only counts as 1 TS, but you should call 407-WDW-DINE to see if you can make a reservation. The other is Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner (think Thanksgiving dinner type food). It is also a character TS with Mickey and friends.

Cosmic Ray's is a good counter service - lots of choices.

Sounds like you should make some reservations for your table service meals. Otherwise you could have a real prolem for dinners. Allears is a great site for menus. Some great family options in the Magic Kingdom are Crystal Palace or Liberty Tree Tavern. In the MK hotels some options that are popular are Ohana's at the Poly, Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary, or 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. Good Luck and keep us posted what you chose. :thumbsup2

One comical little sidenote, do not use the term ADR when you call reservations as that term has not been used for a while now. If you do use it they may make this face :scared: . I forget to stop using it sometimes and they freak out when i use it. They say "what's that?"

if you are willing to go at 'off times' you shouldn't have too much trouble  Tony's, Crystal Palace, Plaza Rest are all good places. Chef Mickeys is gr8 for the kids. Call the WDW dine # and let them know where & when you'll be there, the CM will tell u what is avail. Good LUCK, Have Fun:thumbsup2

Just booked 5 of our 6 TS service meals yesterday and were amazed how we were able to get the 5 so easily and within 10 minutes of the times we wanted. Go on the WDW site for the Dining Reservations number and they will walk you through it. It is much easier that you can imagine. If you don't get a helpful person call back, the lady we had yesterday was amazing and patient. When we couldn't get our 6th restaurant for dinner she spent the time going through with us various options and time. Now we do tend to eat earlier than most, first bookings, but figure once in early you get out early and can tour when most are eating. Counter Service Meals are at your hotel or in the parks and snacks everywhere it seemed. Snacks became easy to figure out when we were told to look for the DP sign on the price lists, made life so much easier then. Found that the food was a lot for us and ended us not using all the counter services at one meal but using some and sharing for breakfasts since we aren't huge eaters. Counter service restaurants you don't have to do anything other than line up with the rest of people. I am definately not shy and just ask the people at the check out if I have everything that the counter service includes or when I enter I ask them, found out later that CS Breakfast included a juice and coffee ontop of the food, thought at the time only 1 drink so lost out a couple of times. If you don't get a great reply from someone then ask someone else, we found that people we more than willing to ask our questions, even though they must hear it hundreds of times a day. Just figure out what parks you are going to on what days and go from there. If you go to MK one day and want to take a break for an early dinner we went to the Contemporary Resort, took the monorail which the kids loved, had dinner at the concourse resort and then took it back to the park. Gave the kids a nice break, wonderfully air conditioned and we all felt refreshed once we got back to the park. We also did the Lilo and Stitch Breakfast one morning and then headed off to MK or the other parks which is easy. Just some suggestions.
