Trip During Point Expiration Date?

Hello!

Brand new to DVC - just purchased a few weeks ago at Riviera.

We are planning our first trip next summer. I was looking to go from last few days of August and into September. Our banked points expire Sept 1st. So if our trip has enough days booked in August that uses up those banked points, will we be good? Then the rest of the days will be covered by current points.

that would work, BUT, when a trip crosses a UY, you will need to call MS to book it or make 2 reservations, 1 for the Aug part then a 2nd one for the Sept part. Some crazy loop hole in the system will not allow a cross over to be booked. Unless they have corrected that 'bug'

What I was told was that the online system can’t do it because when part of one and part of the other are two different UY dates, the points that can be used are different.

There Is something that MS CMs can do that allows the override to ensure the points for each part work correctly.

Just be aware that traveling late in your UY is extra risky. If you should need to cancel, you will most likely be past your banking window and have a higher chance of losing the points for no value.

If your reservation is for a hard to get room, then I recommend doing the first part online at 8 AM to secure the first nights. Then call MS to modify the reservation to add the remaining nights which fall in the next UY.

Thanks, I'll do that then. It would be for a 2 bedroom - maybe a 2 bedroom lock off, so I'm not sure if that falls under 'hard to get'. I thought studios were only hard to get into.

A 2BR lockoff is a studio + 1BR.
