Hi everyone,

I was originally planning a trip for after thanksgiving this year. But we just found out my son (who is entering his Junior year in high school) will be taking 2 advanced classes. So I thought it would be better not to take him out of school. Thus we are thinking of going the last week of August (Friday the 25 through Friday Sept 2). My biggest fear is running into a hurricane AGAIN. Although it really didnt impact our trip last year (we were there during Charlie) I am not really enthusiastic about going through that again. So would there be a better time to go between now and then or should we just take our chances? BTW taking him out of school the end of this year is also out so we couldnt go before june 17th and it looks like that last week of august is the best as far as crowds.

We went the 3rd week of August a couple of years ago and had a fine time. No hurricanes but a lot of rain but everything was fine. I think you'll be fine too and supposedly that last week of August is one of the better ones to go - unfortunately my son starts school that week!

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

We went the last full week in August that didn't end with Labor day and although it was certainly HOT and humid, we had a great time and did everything we wanted to do. We definitely took advantage of the hopping feature. We started out EARLY and then left the park or ate when it got crowded and hot. We had swim breaks and then headed out to another park. Worked great for us. We actually did get used to the heat! Crowds weren't that bad.

We just missed the hurricanes going that week. It did rain almost every afternoon/evening but usually only for 1/2 hour max. We brought sandals and our ponchos.

DS13 & I are taking our first summer WDW vacation this Aug. Its also our first 2 wk vacation - 8nights VWL, 6nights BCV - Aug 13-27
We're planning on waiting till Tues Aug 16 to start the parks and we'll have the next wk to do the parks too

Crowds usually aren't that bad in AUg. Just expect it to be very hot, humid, and with a lot of afternoon thuderstorms-which usually don't last that long and are a relief for a few minutes than it gets twice as humid as before.

We went last year and handled the heat pretty well. My biggest fear is dealing with a hurricane again!!. Oh well we are willing to take the chance instead of compromising my sons education!
