This is my second pre-trippie. My first was our honeymoon to WDW. It was amazing and so much fun. We couldn't stop talking about all the great times we had and the totally unique honeymoon that we had. We were true Disney fanatics and shared the love of everything the theme parks offer, from the rides to the cast members, from the parades to the overpriced food (which we try so hard to bypass!)

So what now???

Its been one month since we left the World in Florida for our fantastic Honeymoon. Not even three days later, my new DH woke me up one morning and said, lets go back next year. NEXT YEAR? WHAT? At the park he told me many times that we would spread out our trips so that we could afford them. I was litteraly freaking out. This was very mean if he was kidding! I made him promise he was serious, and that he couldn't take it back. I probably asked, "REALLY?" about 10 times before I believed him. I then realized that all my planning paid off. Thanks Unofficial Guide and TGM! And he said if I could plan it as well as the honeymoon, and we could get free dining, we could go back in 2009! WOOT!

So what does this have to do with Disneyland???

But then, we realized we couldn't wait that long. We loved Disney so much, and being in AZ and only a short 6 hour drive from Anaheim, we new we had to make it to Disneyland this year too! And so the trip planning begins. It will be a short weekend trip, just to get our fix, so we can survive til our big trip to the World in Sept. 2009.

So who are we?

What we're most excited about - TOY STORY! (We rode in in WDW and couldn't get enough of it! Was DH's favorite ride)

Plans so far,

We are going Oct. 3-5 for just two night to eliminate the need for vacation days at work. We'll be driving and staying offsite. Not sure where yet because we are hoping to get a great deal from an old friend. If that fails, we'll try for one of the economy hotels across the street. I've stayed at the Carousel Inn and the Fairfield Inn. Also many years ago we stayed at Portifino and the Doubletree (which was Red Lion at the time). I would really like to stay in the park someday, but for now, we spend the big bucks when we go to WDW, since it is a farther and longer trip.

We might be doing the Halloween Party on Friday night, and getting two day park hopper. If we are having an absolute blast, we may talk and DH just might give into my wanting of Annual Passes and upgrade our tickets (the 365/no blockout, of course because we'll mostly go on short weekend trips).

I'm not sure what time we'll leave - probably around 12 to get there in time for the party at 7 PM. But also, still not sure if we'll be going to the Halloween party. Haven't considered all the options yet...we'll see.

Stay tuned for more info to come!

Room!

We have a room reservation! We will be staying at the Quality Inn. It is about a mile from the resort so we are really looking forward to not having to pay for parking. We don't mind the walk. Plus the weather will be great, we are hoping. We got a great rate and are excited that our trip is beginning to take shape finally.

We are really having trouble deciding whether or not to get AP. We would do the Premium passes if we got them since most of our trips would be on the weekends as short getaways. We want to make sure that they are good idea since they are quite the expense for a newlywed couple! But it turns out we have a family trip planned next June with DH's parents for a whole week. So that would be 7 days total which I think would pay for the passes. Plus we want to go on New Year's Eve, not so much for the rides, but the atmosphere. We don't mind crowds, so we'd be fine there...room rates might be a problem.

Also, we are thinking that if we get AP, we get free parking which would mean we could stay at resorts a little farther away without worrying about walking distance/time. So many options and variables...

AP's? That's so cool :cool1: We're once a year or every other year people now that we live up in Oregon but if I were still a So cal girl... OH yea...

looking forward to more! :thumbsup2

First of all CONGRATS!! We got married and honeymooned in WDW as well. It's the perfect way to start a lifetime together.

Parents!

So my parents are going to Disneyland about a week before us and are so unfamiliar with all my Disney research and plans and itineraries that really help us have so much more fun than "them" (you know, the people who don't do much planning at all other than finding their room and buying tickets...) So I have put myself in charge of helping them find the perfect hotel. So here is the story:

They will arrive Thursday afternoon for some business meetings and those continue on Friday. Therefore they get their room for free Thursday night at Paradise Pier. But they will be staying longer through the weekend. They are not sure if they get 1 or 2 day passes from the "convention" that they are going to, or if any at all. So that is also a variable. I am trying to find them a good hotel room (see thread here) that will be a better quality and not full of too many noisy younger families since they are older and would enjoy paying a couple extra dollars if it meant higher quality (and indoor corridors are a must for them, little bit of snobbish about that! :snooty: ). But they never take vacations anymore since they own their own business and constantly work, so I would love for them to be able to relax :cloud9: ! They would need the room for Friday and Saturday (two big price nights) but hopefully I can find them a great deal and they can appreciate my Disney dork-ness.

I'm thinking the Anabella hotel possibly. Any hotel that is newer in construction and not AS family oriented as say, those hotels across the street. We'll see.

As for us, I think someday I might want to stay at the Hotel Menage. It looks super contemporary which is totally my style. Hotel Menage

We'll see how planning two trips, within 5 days of each other for very different people come about...haha. Newbie has gone wild! Watch out!

Yes! I truly hope we can get them! So Oregon, eh? I lived in the Seattle area until I was 14 and my half sister lives in Portland, so when her and my sister and I were younger, we saw each other all the time.

Oh I'm so glad other honeymooners have some Disney love. We actually have some friends there right now on their honeymoon. We had so much fun giving them advice at their wedding and oh how we miss it so much. The BEST way to start our life. We never wanted to leave! :sad1:

We did a "2nd honeymoon" trip to WDW in January. So much fun. We're hoping to go back there in January 2010. January 2009 is our next Disneyland trip.

I'm so ready to leave!

Its getting closer and closer and I'm so excited. I am helping my parents plan their trip too which is really fun, since their budget for food is much higher than ours. I keep giving them insider tips that many on the board would consider "No duh!" but they "oooh and ahhh!" over every little detail I tell them. Its very fun. :teacher:

I showed my mom the site with all the menus and prices and she got super excited. She loved being able to plan out which places they would like and which places they should probably avoid, as their personal tastes and preferences.

As with our trip, we are now planning on leaving on Friday morning which means we will get to the park around 5 or 6 instead of 8 or 9. Woohoo! I am really excited just to take our first road trip together as husband and wife. How special to take it to Disneyland too?

I need to find out more about our hotel that we are staying at. I got it at a really special rate from a friend, and its a good neighboor hotels, so I didn't care about ammenities or ratings. I knew it was within walking distance and it has a bed. Thats my only necessity in a hotel room!

I am trying to get DH to tell me where he wants to eat and if/when he wants to do a table service meal. I know we will be going to ESPN zone because we missed that at WDW and DH is a huge ESPN fan...make that Baseball fan actually...and we religiously much watch sportscenter every night. I've given up on watching any of those primetime drama or reality tv shows, its just not gonna happen ...

I would love to eat at the Carnation Cafe, but with only 2 mornings there, I don't think it will happen. One morning will be the Toy Story morning, and the next will be all about FL rides before the park fills up too much. DH only cares about Toy Story, I'm so afraid the lines will be long and he'll be so grumpy and such a :headache: to me. I just want to be there and enjoy all the knowledge I have accumulated since my last trip in May 2007, thanks in much to DISers.

Oh, one more thing before I go. I was talking about all this planning for our tiny 2 day trip and DH asked me,
"That mike guy from the WDW trip..." It took me a second and I replied,
"You mean tour guide mike?" and he said,
"Yes, with the red and green days! Lets do that, that was awesome."
"Sorry, thats only for WDW..."
"What? Why?"
"Well [insert explanation about DL being much less "complicated" than WDW]" and before I could finish...
"Well tell Tour Guide Mike that DL is cheaper and closer for us, or I'll just have to start Tour Guide Blake..."
"Yes, great, with all your vast DL knowledge we'll wait 50 minutes to ride the Jungle Cruise and not plan anytime to eat or watch parades. Sounds great.."
"Well fine, maybe there should be Tour Guide Julie?"
"Sure, then I'll never get off the DISboards..." :woohoo:

So long! Enjoy your weekends! :cool1:

Tiny, two day trip??? HA! :snooty: That's an excellent trip!

Too funny abou the TGM... I love him! Have you heard about Ridemax?? It's fun and easy and really good for the land. Cheap, too .. I think $15.

I won't be able to go to the world but when I was hoping to go and planning like a mad dog using my TGM.... my DH leaned his head in the computer room one late night and said, "Are you coming to bed or are you sleeping with Mike again tonight?"

:lmao:

Have a great trip!

Well our trip is officially not going to happen. We could go, we could afford it, and we could take the time off work. But we are going to wait until next year for our big June family trip (DH's parents and us too, celebrating our one year anniversary and their 27th). We'll get APs then and we'll plan on going for the Holidays next year to see all the wonderful decorations!

It all works out for the best, and I've had a pretty good attitude about it. It just makes sense to wait and get the APs when we'll actually be able to go. (If we got them for this trip, Oct 3-5, we wouldn't be able to use them again until January or February. So four months with APs and not using them = slightly moronic!)

Thanks for reading. I'll be back to write a June Pre-Trip report in January. :)

I'm glad you're taking it well.

One night we were watching TV and a commercial for WDW came on... my kids said, "I bet you wanna go there, right mom?"

I looked over at my DH and said, glumly, "No, I let my dreams die."

:lmao:

It was pretty funny. :rotfl2:
