My summer WDW trip was canceled after experiencing kidney failure  but now things are stablized and I'm looking at next summer. (Luckily I hadn't paid for anything prior.)

I'm currently on a list for a transplant. The average wait time is about a year here but I >could< get called at anytime. I'm looking at purchasing the trip insurance in a disney package but do they cover trip cancellation in the event I do have to have my surgery?

I have wondered myself if the trip cancellation insurance sold most places covers something like what you have - a "pre-existing" condition?

I think I talked to them once about buying the insurance (when I made my WDW ressies) and they gave me a phone number to call to the insurance company for specific information - and they sent me a brochure of some sort too I think.

I guess I'm just suggesting to see something in writing from them that they would cover your situation if needed. :thumbsup2

I would suggest calling Disney Travel Company and ask them to send you a copy of the policy (or at least a brochure) for your review in advance to assist in making a decision. You might want to speak to a supervisor and explain your situation, and ask specifically if that would be covered and if it is in writing.

Best to call the insurance company direct, but the ones I've seen usually cover a pervious existing condiiton if you haven't had treatment, hospitilization, etc., for a period prior to the trip, something like 30-90 days. That't to keep someone from having a accident, buy the insurance, then file a claim!

My AAA agent got me a package that includes 'Cancel for any reason' insurance. I don't know if this is the official WDW insurance. I had previously contacted insuremytrip.com and they named 2 providers that also had the 'Cancel for any reason' provision. One would have cost $110 (As opposed to WDW $120) and the other was around $130.
