Trip cancel HELP

If you used a credit card to purchase your tickets, you may have insurance for this kind of circumstance. Doesn't hurt to check it out.

Hope everything goes well for you and your Dad feels better soon!

:):):)
I had that thought too likely a long shot but will check...thanks.

That was part of my question am I allowed to donate unused tickets? Or is that considered a transfer and tickets are not transferable.
Ah... This bites!

Tickets aren't assigned to anyone until they are used. So it wouldn't even count as a transfer, b/c they aren't *theirs* yet. They are just tickets.

Hope your dad feels better. Any local, gentle, chiropractors who will do house calls?

I'm not sure where you are from but the local news here in la on ABC7 (owned by Disney) has a segment that they call "Pay it Forward" They find someone who is in need or desrving and given them $500 but I'm sure getting those passes to Disneyland would be just as good.
I just want to say knowing how expensive those tickets are i think it is so thoughoutful of you to consider donating them.

Ouch ... I know how you feel. We are suppose to be leaving in 42 days to fly from Detroit out to Anaheim with my boys and my parents and now my dad's retina became attached and he is on surgery #4 in the past month. Chances of him being able to fly are next to none.

I feel for your dad. Back problems are no joke and very very painful.

Hopefully between now and the time you leave there is a miracle.

Thinking and praying for you !!

PS........
(If you do not find someone to take the tickets, my boys and I would love them . Therefore we would not have to sit around a day (since we booked 7 days with our flights and hotel before we knew we could not get 6 day hoppers and holding out that there might be a fall deal LOL ) If it werent for me working for starwood I would not be able to make this possible for my boys. 2 6 day hoppers would be great and then I could buy a child 1 day extra so all I could take my oldest and youngest that extra day. I would be willing to pay for all shipping and the regular price of tickets. Now that my dad can not go and has to eat the price of his and my moms flights. I have no major credit card to rent a car and do anything else that extra day we can not get into disney. THe price of a child ticket for my youngest for the extra day would be bearable if we had 6 day ph. This is really a once in a lifetime opportunity for my boys coming from canada. )

That is nice you are considering paying it forward! Love reading stuff like that.

So, I would definitely call Disney and see if they offer any type of credit. They certainly don't have to with their terms, but they of course could if they wanted to do so.

Next, the poster above who suggested checking iwth your credit card had a great idea and I would do that.

If your parents just want them to go to a good cause, I don't know about getting them to a family in need, but...

I do know of charities that have silent auctions for fundraising events. You could donate the tickets to the charity and then they put them in their silent auction for someone to bid on. If you are not familiar with how this works:

- Someone who wins the bid gets to use the tickets.
- The charity gets a donation of X amount, (based on the winning bid) to go towards their cause AND
- Your parents get a tax write-off for the value of the tickets they donate.

I have volunteered with a few non-profit organizations that would happily accept such a donation. If you need a organization suggestion, let me know.

That was part of my question am I allowed to donate unused tickets? Or is that considered a transfer and tickets are not transferable.
You are absolutely allowed to donate them in such a manner.

Good thoughts to your Dad.

Dreams

ETA: I just saw you are in Alberta so, no clue about the tax-deductible part. (I know ZERO about Canadian tax laws. :) )

I wish I could afford to buy them from you for my brother and his family. We are going in November and my brother can't afford to come with us, they have had a rough year work wise. He broke his back some years ago and is in constant pain, but he works SO hard as a realtor but the market in Arizona has been SO awful! Up until a month ago, I was thinking I could swing buying a couple of their tickets but the last month was SO bad for DH that we were considering cancelling OUR trip too, but it's 90% paid for already and we'd be out $500 if we cancelled.

I hope you find a solution, I wish your dad the best...back pain is the pits!

I'm sorry to hear your parents can't make it. I hope your father is better soon. I'd be interested in buying the 6day passes if you decide to go that route. We're planning a family trip for nye but some of our group did not book before DL changed their tickets so were short a few 6 day passes still.

I sent a PM, but my internet timed out, so I'm not sure if it went through..

Here is what I sent, thanks for taking time to read this.

"I know you said you weren't wanting to sell them, but my circumstance is different than most people going with family.

I am seventeen, and a senior in high school. This past May (five days into summer vacation), my father passed away in an RV accident due to a faulty tire. He was ejected from the RV and it was just a gruesome experience. We mourned the loss of him, and I was really robbed of my last summer as a kid.

I'm a senior in high school, and am trying to go on a trip this spring with four friends I have known since grade school before we all go our separate ways. I wanted to go Disneyland and be a kid for a few more days, and not have to worry about any of the issues this tragedy has brought upon my family. Two days is what we were talking about already doing. We were wanting to go on a trip in March for my 18th birthday(March 16!)/spring break/senior trip. My mom is determined to pay for me to go on this trip, but I am trying to help make this dream of mine a little cheaper.

I know it's a longshot, but if you would be willing to help me out with my Disney Dream, it would mean more to me than words can express. I'm not really asking for them to be given to me because I'd feel it'd be outright wrong to ask that. I will pay if you just let me know what you would sell them for. Just to prove the legitimacy of the story, the links below are the accident details, me in a video reliving it, and my Facebook.

Once again, I am not trying to make this a sob story, but if you were looking to make somebody's day with these tickets, my WHOLE YEAR would be made knowing I could go hang out with my friends like old times.

Thanks,
Derrick Holt"

...for the input all. I have been inundated with p.m.'s chock full of ideas.
At this point I will try and go the city hall route. Assuming that fails I will pursue one of your ideas on my return. We leave Thursday .
Due to the volume log PM I will not be able to personally respond to all, but will hold on to them for now.
Thanks for all the well wishes, you are a kind group.

I should note to save all some time, these tickets are not valid for 2013.

Hey, I hope you have a great trip!! Hope your Dad feels better! My husband broke his hip 1 week ago so if you see a family barely moving say "Hi"!! Prayers for you and your family;)

It completely sucks my parents were to join us this week along with two of my siblings and their kids.

My dad has put out his back 100% out and is flat on his back...they are having to cancel.

So now we have all these park tickets that are not refundable, we have 2 x 6 day park hopper, 2 x Halloween party for the second and 2 x 2 park hopper.

Any Ideas? My mom would love to pay it forward, underprivileged single parent and child? I don't even know if we can do this? Or does Disney ever accept donated tickets and do this?

At his point I will not be trying to sell or give away, just seeing what is possible, we can hold out hope for next week, likely a slim hope though .

Good luck to you!! If you do end up selling them I may be able to purchase 1-2 from you. I can't help with the Halloween party tickets but I'm trying to swing a trip next month because Halloween is my favorite holiday and I'd need a ticket for DD12 and DBF. So if you do decide to sell them keep me in mind, I'm sure there's a list of people that would be ahead of me but I just wanted to throw that out there. :)

I hope your Dad feels better soon!
