We are thinking about booking a short trip this summer. To save money on tickets we were going to buy the base tickets and not do any park hopping. The difference in price is $500 to drop the park hopping/waterpark and more option. We would like the option depending on weather/moods once there to go to a water park just one day. Could we upgrade one days ticket once there? How much would it be? If we book our trip now, for the end of August, and a promotion is later released would it be applied to our account? Trying to see if it is better to wait for a promotion or book early. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Sounds great!

Great way to save money. Just decide which parks you will be in each day before you head to WDW by looking at the park hours. Then you can book the restaurant you want in advance. Plus with the possibility of free dining at the end of august I'd want to be booking my restaurants ASAP.

I'm assuming you are just referring to water park and more. If you are only going to a water park once then it's probably cheaper to just pay for a one-day ticket separately. But yes, you could upgrade once there.

How much would it be?

It's the same price no matter when you add it to your tickets. It's around $54 for a park hopper and another $54 for a waterpark and more option.

Assuming Disney has availability then yes, your deposit will be transferred over. If you cancel a trip 45 days out then you get your full deposit back.

I think you need to find a good Disney TA. They can answer all these questions. My opinion is that I would wait just a bit. They haven't released the discount codes for August free dinning yet. Assuming they will follow the plan of past years, this should be in April. Check out the mousesavers website for the history of Disney's discounts.

I would go ahead and firm up the dates for my trip. When you can make your ADR's for 180 days ahead I would book them even if I haven't booked my trip yet. As long as it is NOT a reservation held with a credit card (like the castle or dinner theatre) than you can cancel it later if it doesn't work out. But once free dinning comes out the restaurant reservation lines will be busy.

Just my opinion though.

You cannot just add a ticket to the water parks to your tickets you can however purchase tickets at Blizzard Beach for instance just to go to Blizzard Beach that day...

When/if new promotions are announced you would need to call disney reservations with the discount code usually 3 letters and you can generally find it listed here on this site or on mousesavers.com and ask them to apply it to your ressies.. Keep in mind that the promotion may not be available at the hotel you are staying for example if you make ressies now for Pop and free dining code comes out but by the time you get a chance to call all they have left is ASMusic so you might have to be a little flexable
