I'm leaving on wed and I'm avoiding packing. I'm scared. It's strange. Usually I'm packed and have checked my list twice by now. I haven't even charged the camera batteries. What does this mean????Fear of the unknown. I have put so much into this trip I'm afraid it won't be magical and I'll be dissapointed. Crazy huh? It is soo much money I want it to be so special. I don't want little things to upset or dissapoint me. I'm nervous about getting a GAC for my son, what if he says something that makes me look like I'm making up his condition. He has Autism and you never know what he's gonna say or do. I'm nervous that I made the right dinning choices, about not getting a rental car. About not bringing a stroller about having my kids each drag a carry on and backpack. About how I'm getting the vacumed seal princess dresses back, should I check one large empty suitcase. That way if it gets lost there I'm still OK and if not I can bring stuff home in it. Help!!! Do I have it all? Should I just cancell? What to do???

Oh man, you gotta slow down. You are leaving in 2 days! THAT is exciting!! Stop worrying. If you forget something you have a car right? There is a Walmart Superstore there that has EVERYTHING you will ever need. Your son has special needs. He deserves his GAC do not worry about it. Nobody is going to judge you. Every dining choice and every plan you have made is good. You will be in DISNEY!!! Who cares if you are sitting on a curb eating a turkey leg or in the Sci-Fi?? It doesn't matter because you will be in DISNEY!!! I would give my right arm to be there with my family. Every moment is a magical one so stop obsessing and enjoy it. Everyone will have a great time. Have you EVER heard of anyone not???
Be happy and have fun. :cloud9:

...oops I see there's no rental car...that's ok..we've gone down not renting and then mid-week decided we wanted one for a few days..there is a rental place on the grounds....

First take a deep breath.

Second, make a list of what you know you will need with you, then start packing.

Now just know that no matter what, if you relax and just let the little things not bother you, you will have an amazing trip. I think that most people down there are so focused on what they are doing they won't even think to question your son. You know what he needs, no one else. So relax, take a couple more deep breaths and go and have FUN!!!

BTW I am jealous you are leaving in 2 days!!!:worship:

Thanks. We have always had a great time at Disneyland but in Jan we went to Disneyland and it was horrible (besides no lines on an 80 degree Sat), there wern't any characters out in plain sight, my favorite resturant placed me practically in the kitchen after we waited an extra 30min for a water side table, I stood in a 2 hr line for the Nemo Sub that was horrible, it was a bad day. When I talked to a CM about it he said it was due to the economy. That they cut back on the characters and parades and shows. It was pretty bad. I'm just scared that after the extreamly wonderful experiences my kids have had this one might leave them feeling how the last trip left me (just hubby and I). I know I should be excited but I have a huge knot in my tummy and I have eaten 1/2 lb of See's Candy. I'm just scared of the unknown. I might need the bouncy purple pill for this one.

I too am anxious for this trip! I just want it to live up to what we have been dreaming of. Mostly I am worried about my ability to let go, relax, and enjoy my family without micromanaging every moment.....

Here's how to pack and make it fun & no stress:

1. Pour large glass of white wine.

2. Drink white wine.

3. Put on the CD Disney Radio's "Move It".

4. Choose "Cha Cha Slide". Set to repeat.

5. Open up suitcases, start giggling and dancing, and get that baby packed!

This feeling is called "Your Happy Place."

Remember that feeling when you're on vaca and you start feeling stressed. Imagine the song in your head and just cha cha slide your way through the drama and you'll be fine...

Amazing advice! WOW! I'll have to follow these to a tee!
OP-my son 7 is also autistic-I was nervous about obtaining his GAC also the 1st time;he doesn't "look" like there is anything wrong with him-I got the nicest CM at the MK the 1st time-he said he had a younger brother with autism-now I just save the previous GAC and show them that and they issue a new one. Nothing to be stressed about!
YOU and your family ARE going to have an amazing trip! Just go with the flow-and everything will be wonderful!:grouphug: too you!

Newstarr, I hope you are feeling better today and are excited about your trip. Relax and have a wonderful vacation. pixiedust:

Thank You everyone. I tried the wine, I zipped my finger up in the suitcase, maybe too much wine.
I've prayed about it a lot and I think the problem may be everytime I turn on the news I hear about how bad off the economy is and how I should be stock pillling money away. But I'm spending it all on this trip. So I guess if we end up homeless in a year because I went to disney, can I park my trailer in anyones back yard? :)
Is there a Ross down there in case I need to buy another suitcase to bring home? I have vacumed sealed all these darn pricess dresses and crammed so much stuff in thses bags I think they are going to split.

Mail things home if they don't fit. Probably cheaper than extra bag fees anyway.

And RELAX!!! You're going to DISNEY WORLD!!!

It will all work out.

One day at a time.

And I think you forgot the cha cha slide. Wine without the cha cha slide is not nearly as much fun.

There are so many places to buy things like suitcases down there your head will spin. Walmart, target, etc. Stop worrying, you're going to freak your kids out. And this advice is from a reformed freak out artist.

What was that line from Ferris Bueller's Day Off? "He's so tightly wound that if you stuck a lump of coal up his ****, in two weeks you'd have a diamond..."

about to leave for the airport and if that line was true. I would try it just to have the diamond to pay for this trip! :rotfl: Oh, well here goes! Have to shave my legs for that sunshine weather and then we are out the door for a 7 hr flight, wohoo!:cheer2:

I love love love this advice!!! We are leaving in 2.5 weeks, and I will gladly take this advice! I have to admit, I have been a lot like the OP with over-thinking this!:cool1:

Just relax and don't think in negative way. I'm sure your trip will be magical as you want too but just don't set your expectations too high. I'm sure it turns out good. Looking forward in hearing more from you after you came back.

Have a nice and safe trip. :)
