Hi!

I have been looking at trimmers that also have attachable tillers. Does anybody have one of these? Do you know what brand or model? Would you recommend this type of tool for a small to medium size garden?

I would really appreciate any help or direction on this.

Thanks!

I have a gas-powered Ryobi line trimmer with multiple attachments, including the tiller. I'm quite pleased with how well it works, but it's not a substitute for a full blown tiller. I'd say tht Ryobi is fine to "rework" last year's garden, to break it up, mix in fertilizer, etc. But it's not going to break up new turf to put in a new garden - it just doesn't have the power or weight to do that.

Much easier on the back than using a pitchfork to turn over the old garden and it goes pretty fast. You just have to use it for what it was made for. Good luck on your decision. :goodvibes

We have the same one--got it at Lowe's. For the price/space it works well. We don't have a huge garden, so a dedicated tiller just wasn't worth it to us. DH says it's not the greatest tiller, but much better than doing it manually. We've had the tiller for 2 years with no troubles.

We also have the Ryobi. Started with a gas and that broke so went with the electric which works much better for us. We've had it for about 5 years and have multiple attachments. You need to pull up the grass but it tills really well when the grass is gone. We have a lot of roots from oak trees and it breaks them up well.
