Trigger is up for auction!!!

Roy Roger's trusty mount, Trigger, is up for auction. This caught me by surprise. Trigger is a wonderful part of cowboy movie history, I just feel that he should stay in a museum. I guess the museum feels differently!!!

I wonder why they closed the museum You hear of fundraisers all the time to keep places open, it is a shame something was not done to keep this museum open, Roy Rodgers and his horse Trigger was a true Cowboy Icon for so many, includeing myself when growing up :

I read a slightly more extensive article on this last week.

The auction is a last resort. Apparently the museum offered Trigger, another horse and the dog to numerous museums.

Every single one turned them down saying that in this economy they had no money to set up a new exhibit.

I am surprised the Smithsonian did not snap up Trigger as the horse is a cultural icon.
