Tricky DVC Ticket Question

Okay, this is going to be long and a bit complicated, so I apologize in advance!

DH and I were going to take a cruise in January - 1 on points and 1 on cash. This has already been booked. Then we decided that we would really like to treat my brothers to their first adult WDW vacation. So, we're going to cancel the cruise and plan an all-WDW trip. I understand that the points commited to the cruise will still have to be used for an exchange, so we're planning on spending 3 nights at the Poly on the exchange points before moving over to BCV.

Now here is the question: what type of tickets should I get for my brothers? DH and I will have the APs we bought for our October trip, so that is not an issue. I would really like to get them UPH with the 10% DVC discount so we can take them to Disney Quest and Pleasure Island. However, the person I spoke with today (regular Disney reservations, member services was closed) said that I would have to get a 3-day UPH while at the Poly and then a 4-day UPH while at BCV, which is much more than the cost of an AP. I can't just get one 7-day UPH.

Has anyone resort hopped without an AP? What did you do for tickets? If I get APs or regular 7-day PHs, I will have to also pay for DQ and PI. Is there really not a way to get a 7-day UPH if you're changing resorts?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

I believe that a 7-day park hopper plus has 4
"plus" features that can be used at the water parks and pleasure island - not sure, but probably at disney quest too?

It's been ages since we bought anything but APs.

Good luck!

The "plus" options from the Park Hopper Plus tickets are not good for Disney Quest. They work for the water parks, Pleasure Island and the WWOS (Wide World of Sports) Complex.

As far as I know, you cannot buy a 7 Day UPH (Length of Stay) pass if you are staying at more than one resort during that time. (However, I have read that sometimes the DVC resorts will work something out for guests if they are staying at two or more DVC resorts during their stay. But that doesn't apply to your situation).

I think you will find that your least expensive option will be the 7 Day PHP tickets. You can pay separately for Disney Quest. If you check the online ticket brokers, you will find that many of them sell discounted tickets for Disney Quest as well as for WDW. For example, I know that Ticketmania does. I'm sure many of the others do, too.

Here's a link to ticket prices - you may want to play with some of the numbers/prices to see what will work best for your touring plans:

Enjoy the trip!

I guess we'll get the 7-day UPH and if the boys want to go to DQ we'll just pay for it separately. Thanks for the help!

I had a similar situation last week. Our niece came along with us and we all have PAPs. We needed to get her an UPH. But we stayed at AKL first for a few days, then moved to BCV. So we got her a 1 night UPH at AKL (2 days, 1 night) and a 6 night (7 days, 6 nights) UPH at BCV. The price was just about the same with the DVC discount at BCV. AKL said they would be able to do the entire ticket for her, but I was worried about the room keys/tickets not working when we moved. Also, I couldn't get the DVC discount at AKL. If you buy two separate UPHs, make sure you don't overlap a day. Drop either the last day on the first ticket or the first day on the second ticket since that day is already covered by the other ticket. Just don't drop both.
