Tricks to move from Value to Moderate or Delux?

I thought I posted earlier, but can't find it so I guess it didn't go through. I just returned from my first WDW trip and WOW! I can't wait to go back! We stayed 6 days/5 nights and we had to go go go the entire time and still didn't see it all. I can't decide exactly how I felt about the ALL Star Movies. For the price, it can't be beat. The rooms were fine and the whole resort was really cute for the kids (and me too).

I was so envious of the resorts with a beach. I had thought WDW could be the only vacation I ever take again, if only it had a beach....and then remembered some of the resorts do have them. However, even if AS had beaches I wouldn't have had time to enjoy them. While its great having the resort shuttles, it still is so far from AS to the parks. Once we left for the day, we really couldn't return until the very end of the day. No rest time, changing, etc was really feaseable. I would have loved to be a mere monorail away from my room or pool/beach. It was also cruel to go to my extra excursions at the delux resorts to see what I was missing, LOL! Its such a dilemma. The value is a value and when you compare the price with the nicer resorts, it is so hard to justify the difference. I considered the Carribean Beach, but it looks pretty far away too. Those that have stayed there, what was your feeling about the distance?



And Good Lord WHAT is wrong with the Orlando Water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL! Next time I'm leaving DH (more on that later) and taking more bottled water!

I considered the Carribean Beach, but it looks pretty far away too. Those that have stayed there, what was your feeling about the distance?

My DS 12 and I spent 7 days at CBR in April and it has a beautiful beach...several of them - which makes it feel like a vacation within a vacation! We are planning to return to CBR next year.

We didn't have any problems with transportation. One of the plusses about CBR was that it is kind of 'in the middle' of everything.

I agree with you, I think WDW will easily fill all of my needs - and can be the only vacation spot I'll ever visit! I grew up going to Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head every year for two weeks, and really enjoy the beach. After visiting CBR, I realized that WDW really does have it all!

I never found it hard to get anywhere from CBR. The transportation is great and you are never far from a park.

The ONLY time the monorail might help is going to MK. I found taking the monorail to Epcot took longer then most of the bus rides. And of course you still have to take the bus to the other parks.

Believe it would be cruel and unusual punishment to swim in any of the beaches at Disney. They have amoeba and they have alligators.

To the OP as the others stated the deluxe resorts offer alot of amenties I enjoy, but transportation is highly over rated in my opinion on deciding where to stay. No resort has great transportation to all locations.

CBR is very centrally located and the buses efficient. All Coronado has a lovely beach area with hammocks and very good transportation also.

I disagree. Yacht & Beach are within walking distance to Epcot and MGM. They do have Friendship boats if you opt not to walk. AND... you don't have to fold up your stroller to get on. If you go to the MK from Epcot, you have a monorail (again, no folding of the stroller). This resort was my DH's dream come true...NO BUSES!

But I agree I loved staying at the Boarwalk area (BWV) because even if I did have to wait for the boat, which came fairly regualarly, I KNEW I could walk to either Epcot and MGM. Of course I would opt for the Bus to MK since it is a really long walk from the International gate to the Monorail and then you have to transfer at TTC to get to MK. But it was nice to have the option!

I stayed at CBR once. It's a beautiful resort, but it's best to have a car. When you've stayed at the Values, you get spoiled by the bus service.

We find the monorail to MK and Epcot to be fantastic options from the Polynesian. The monorails run more frequently than the buses and are fun and fast. It is a very short walk to the TTC from the Polynesian. I do agree that the monorail service from the GF and CR to Epcot isn't nearly as attractive an option since you have to go all the way around(either going from the GF or returning to the CR) and then switch monorails.

No swimming is allowed in any of the lakes at Disney. You could wade in for water if you were building a sand castle but that would be about it.

You cannot swim at Disney Beaches. I was unhappy about that too but Florida is loaded with alligators so you woundn't want to!

There is also a nasty amoeba that can crawl up your nose and kill you. That is why more than alligators no swimming is allowed.

Last summer some people choose to take there life in there own hands and dive in. Yes, they swam in seven seas lagoon! Off the poly shore. Same people's chairs where next to the sign too. They where all speaking english, so that was not the problem. The guards pointed out the sign and where over there talking to them, and they stayed in the water. Even had there kids out there with them. I wondered if they got sick? I thought, why would you risk you expensive vacation time to push this envelope? Hmmmm,

So be careful, if your there and people are in the water does NOT mean its ok, read the signs.
