Trick or Treating Event??

Is it the extra money?? We have never been during Halloween time and just wondering if this is worth the extra cost.. There will be 2 adults, our daughter 7.5 and our younger daughter 1.5

Yes....it is a ticketed event (around $50 a ticket, I believe???). The event starts around 6pm (and Disneyland closes early those nights), but using your Halloween Party ticket you can get into the park earlier in the day. I believe ticket prices and times vary by date.

Last year my friend bought 2-day park hopper tickets, and used them on Mon and Wed. On Tues, they hung out at their hotel pool, and then went into Disneyland at 3:00 pm using their Halloween Party ticket. So they got 3 hours of regular DL time that day, and then all non-party guests were cleared out. The party went pretty late into the evening. She said it was VERY worth it. The lines for candy were long, but the lines for rides were GREAT!!! I would love to do this in October. We'll see.....

Yes it is. It's a hard ticketed event. Prices vary depending on date and advanced purchase or day of pricing.

$44 to $64.

Is it worth it? Up to you. You can get into DL 3 hours before the event starts.

My DD11 and I went last year for the first time. We had fun. We brought home over 18 lbs. of treats between the 2 of us.

The 1.5 y/o would be free.

The Grim Grinning Ghosts Spooktacular (fireworks) is only available during Mickey's Party.

I went last year with DH and absolutely loved it! Here's my take: do it for the fireworks and for the short lines. The lines for candy were VERY long. I think it would be a waste of ticket price to spend hours standing in line for candy. The 'treat' really is the excellent fireworks display (you can find it on youtube) and the super-fast lines. We had 5 minute waits for BTMRR and Splash was absolute walk-on.

Plan on going on dates different from your neighborhood ToT evening so your kids can do it 'for real' at home and maybe only do 1 line at the park (to satisfy the candy itch lol) so you can have quality time actually DOING stuff at DL.

As mentioned beforehand, the event pass lets you get in to the park several hours before the party starts, and you get a special wristband to identify that you're staying on for the party. When we went on rides (during the party), CM's definitely checked for them! I didn't notice any non-party guests cutting in on rides. That was nice.

Loved it last year! But I didn't think the lines were short. I don't remember them being super long, either though....

Do you need seperate park admission? As in a ticket & a halloween ticket or will just the halloween ticket get you in?

The MHP ticket will allow you to enter the park for 3 hrs prior to the party starting. Show either you e-tickets or tickets that you have received in the mail to the turnstiles, and they will give you: a wristband, a special ticket for the event, small goodie bag and a map of where the TOT stations. Once the party starts the CM's are out in force looking for wristbands, so that the people who have not paid for the event, are told that the park is closed and are directed to Main Street to exit the park. I personally loved the MHP event last year, and can't wait to go again. The best time to do the rides is when the parade is on, as they will have minimal lineups. Hope that this helps you out. I went last year with my mom and 2 sisters (all adults -- no kids). I thought it was well-worth the $$. BUT...there were a lot more people there than we were expecting. I had visions of going to the park with crowds during the days and a noticeably smaller crowd on party night. Not so in our case. We found that our park days felt a lot less crowded than the party night. (We went on Tuesday the last week of Oct.)

We went last year.

Lines -- the lines for the rides were unbearable before the fireworks since there were people there for the day and also lots of Halloween party people there at the same time. Once the non-party people left, the lines were fine.

Fireworks -- we went mainly for the fireworks and they were fantastic.

Candy -- after the fireworks we rode some rides and passed by many candy stands that had no lines at all (or maybe 3-4 people) so we did get some candy. The farther we got from Main Street the less crowded things were.
