I've been craving Brach's Autumn mix but couldn't find it anywhere, until tonight.

One of my local grocery stores has a whole isle devoted to Halloween candy on one side, Fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations on the other. Needless to say, I had to stop and stare for a few seconds.

Jo-Ann's fabrics has quite a large section of Fall and Halloween items on display but they always seem to be far ahead of the crowd.

Have any of you seen like items in your area?

BTW, I bought Brach's Autum Mix, a bag of their candy corn and a bag of Halloween Mellowcremes (I've never seen those before).

I'm dying to try their chocolate caramel candy corn.

Summer's not even over yet!! Glad you found your candy though! :thumbsup2

Yes, I have seen like items starting last week. Am I ready to see like items? NOPE! After I get back from vacation maybe. I love Fall...:lovestruc

I heard through the grapevine that our store is going to start getting Christmas display stuff ready starting Monday (it's my first year so I'm clueless but I know they start early).

Actually, Jo-Ann's & fabric/craft stores are the only ones I can give a pass on for putting their seasonal stuff out early -- people are using it to make stuff, so they do need the material way ahead of the actual season but no real need to have a huge display of holiday wrapping paper set-up in August!

Of course, I haven't really been looking & still need to buy back to school items so who knows what is out right now.

I went in the Dollar Tree the other day and they have Halloween and Christmas stuff out already!!

Fall items are showing up in all our stores in S. Jersey. I am getting ready to decorate my house on Sept. 1st. I leave for Disney on the 9th. and want everything done when I return. It sure has been a hot summer! Bring on Fall

When I worked in Grocery we would always put up Halloween as soon as there was room on our seasonal aisle. People would always complain that we put it up earlier and earlier every year (we didn't, it was about the same time every year)...but then they left the store with candy corn in their basket!! Which is why we started putting it out as soon as there was room! I knew I couldn't sell it full price a month after Halloween, so if there were a few people wondering the aisle with visions of sweaters and apple cider swirling in their heads a month or two before...yay for me!
It's hot and icky in a lot of the country, people are ready for fall, so even though it's ridiculous to have scarecrows and trick or treat signs in August, people buy it. Right now to a lot of them everything fall sounds very appealing! (including me!!!)
Target had their back to school section set up two weeks after our summer vacation began. I imagined mommy's whose kids were already driving them nuts, wondering the aisle, filling the basket, and dreaming of times when the house would be quiet again.

Walgreens has their Halloween aisle done with tons of candy and Costco has Halloween and some Christmas out already.:scared1:I am so not done with summer!

Just shows that stores only care about $$$. Not that we didn't know that already but really, Christmas wrapping paper in August? Give it a rest.

I am going to guess our grocery store has stuff up now. The last time I was there they were cleaning out the summer/seasonal aisle. No one is forcing anyone to buy anything now so I guess it really doesn't matter. I understand having things out early in craft stores because it takes time to make things so crafters need them out early.

Well my Mom wants to celebrate Christmas at Thanksgiving because she wants to go down to Florida early this year. What makes this difficult is that we don't normally spend Thanksgiving with her. I am sure she'll put up the tree and do the whole thing for Thankschristgivingmas.

Once Halloween comes around I feel like everything just whirls by until January-

Well as for as I know most retailers are for profit businesses.

Stores have those aisles for seasonal merchandise. I think in many cases it has been sooner that stores have put the stuff out because of the economy. In the past once summer stuff was sold off they would put in "filler" stuff until it was time for Halloween/Thanksgiving and maybe some Christmas stuff in Sept. Well since a lot of retailers don't want to risk purchasing inventory that may not sell they choose to just elimate that "filler" merchandise. They would rather put stuff out early knowing that it will sell over the next 3-4 months.

If you can't stand looking at the stuff in stores earlier, try working for a retailer where we have to start planning for seasons months and months in adavance. Where I work we start planning for Back to School in Jan.

Jo-Ann's has a lot of Fall/Halloween decorative items for house and yard, they also have Fall wreaths. I'm certain they're no where near done putting out their goodies.

I didn't dare check the fabric section. I always see several different prints that I just have to have.

I feel the same way.

Edited to add: My local Walmart doesn't have Halloween candy available yet. They have quite a bit of candy in one of their grocery aisles but nothing geared toward Halloween.

I was at the grocery store the other day and walked by where they were setting up the Halloween candy. Of course I had to buy some candy corn! It's never too early for a sugar rush!

I used to work in retail and seasonal merchandise kept getting put out earlier and earlier. I never minded it though. Fall is my favorite season and Halloween is my favorite holiday. :goodvibes

I have my Christmas shopping 85% done by early October. So I enjoy having the wrapping out early. This way, I am not wrapping presents the night before. Instead, I can get it all done and put aside in the guest room. Keeps me from being stressed out during the holiday season.

Besides, I hate summer. Give me all other season... but the sooner summer can be over, the better. I am not an outdoors person. I hate the heat and the humidity. I want my sweaters and boots, jeans, and cute jackets please.

Just a peek inside Joann's, at least - I work there.

We have a section of the store entitled "seasonal", and that's where all the decor, etc goes. Also a "floral" section. These areas need to be full at all times. The problem, this time of year, is that once people are done shopping for Patriotic stuff at the end of June, there is nothing else. But those sections still have to be full. We can't keep it stuffed full of summer merchandise that no one is going to buy, so realistically we have to be stocked forward to the next shopping season, which is "Autumn".

Rule of thumb is, once a major holiday hits, the next one should be fully up, stocked and running. That means Autumn is fully stocked by July 5th because there's this great shopping wasteland in August. Same thing happens at Christmas. No one is in the mood for Valentines stuff at Christmas, but Valentine's (and usually St Patricks and Easter, because those are small sets) has to be fully stocked and set by December 26th because those areas have to be full of something and they can't be full of Christmas any more.

Its annoying, trust me, I know... nothing more annoying than looking at turkeys and fall leaves every day all day in July and August, but that's how retail works.

I actually appreciate that. Things usually get super busy as halloween comes and goes with thanksgiving and christmas. Not only the holidays but I've got a wedding as well to keep up with as well. Its alot! Between now and April 17th (yes the day after) time is going to FLY BY!!

My Michael's craft store and HobbyLobby are full of fall-the HobbyLobby has a 15 foot FALL tree when you enter-its Wowser!

Also saw one isle of Christmas in both......

I take my beach vacation at the end of the month-so NOT ready for any of that stuff:sad2::rotfl2:

Our local Wal Mart has some fall decor but no Halloween yet. I got some new Fabreeze scents and candles for fall. They smell great. Fall is my favorite season. I am so ready for it!

I worked at Michaels and we started getting Christmas stuff in around March/April. That December we ended up not really having a Christmas because I was so sick of looking at it.

We just had our meeting yesterday to talk about the schools pumpkin contest and trunk and treat. School hasn't even started yet. :rolleyes1
