Tonight is Trick or Treat night in our neighborhood. Personnally, I wish the township would actually do Trick or Treat on Halloween, but that is another story.

DW is out with DD taking her around the neighborhood getting treats. I am sitting in my living room with my wireless laptop, the DIS and a HUGE bowl of candy.

I'm gonna be bouncin' off the walls before this evening is over.

Mmmmmm, Snickers bars......

Wow, why doesn't your town have trick or treating on Halloween night?

We live in Ohio and ours is tonight also!
It's even better that my kids don't have school tomorrow for a teacher work day! :thumbsup2

Ours was Saturday.
One town had it Tuesday.. and several others are doing it tonight.

None of the towns close to me are having it tomorrow!

NEPA checking in and ours was tonight too, kids are already home with 3 huge bags full of candy... Ours is tonight because of football games as well.

I went over to my aunt's house to help her pass out treats. We had 300 kids in 1 hour and 20 minutes!!! Ran out of treats 40 minutes early. We turned off the lights still had kids knocking on the door. There is a home football game tomorrow night (last one before playoffs) which is why Trick or Treat night was tonight.

I think trick or treating should be on Halloween - not the night before, 3 nights before, the weekend before, etc., etc..

Why is it that every holiday has to be changed in some way, shape, or form? What's next? Christmas on New Year's? New Year's on Thanksgivng? Thanksgiving on Easter? I think the whole concept is just silly..

Do you live in a big football town? no one is around friday nights around here which means NO houses to trick or treat at.

No, I don't.. But what time do the football games start? Most younger kids are done trick or treating by 6:30 or so.. (At least in the two neighborhoods my DGD has lived in..) Halloween doesn't fall on a Friday night every year - any reason they couldn't change the game to Saturday afternoon or Saturday night?

Our trick or treating is tomorrow night even with our football team being in the playoffs at 7:00.

I guess we have a varied population - or - HS football isn't that big here. Our team is playing a powerhouse (ranked in the Top Ten nationwide for years). We will still have T or T on Halloween night. I can imagine that it'll be inconvenient for some families, but they'll figure it out.

It must be very small towns, where EVERYBODY in town goes to the local HS football game.

The only year that they changed the trick or treating around here was when encephalitis (spelling wrong I know) and it wasn't safe to go out at dusk or when the mosquitos are out.

My roommate lives in Harrisburg (Dauphin County) and she told me that tonight is trick or treat night. I thought it was the weirdest thing because Halloween is tomorrow! Anyways, she said they do it on Thursday because then the kids only have one day of school to go to until the weekend as opposed to if Halloween fell on a Sunday or Monday. Also, she said people are not home on Fridays or Saturdays. That's her explanation. Personally, I think trick or treating should be on Halloween.

When we lived in Iowa, kids went out on Beggar's Night--the 30th. They also told jokes before getting their candy.

Our tirck or treat night is tomorrow night--won't be home as it is a big football game with cross town rivals that will also determine who goes to playoffs. There is also a tailgate for football parents at 5 p.m.

Football game starts at 7, but everyone starts showing up at 6 p.m. or so to get parking, tickets, a seat, watch the players warm up, socialize. (Can you tell football is a big thing?) So would be hard to wait to go to the game til little ones are done, plus that would be too many cars on the streets with all the kiddos out and about. That would be an accident waiting to happen.

If the choice had to be made between football and trick or treating, we'd all be at the football game. Dh is the park director, and we have "Treat Street." (We had a HUGE turnout tonight!) He also does the stats for the football team. Our game is 2 towns away, and starts at 7. We'll leave here before 6. Everyone will be there because we are undefeated and this is our last regular game of the year.

I don't see a comparison between Halloween and Christmas. Personally, Halloween is a fun little holiday where the kids dress up and get candy. Not a big deal. What difference does it make to the kids if they get their candy one night early?

And no, they won't reschedule a game for Halloween!!!!!

Trick or Treating is 6-8pm here its just the way its always been at least since I was little so for at least 30 years (YIKES!) its been like this around here. Sat. & Sunday games just do not draw the same crowds as Friday night games do around here we could see attendances of 1500 on a GOOD game night. Which is just about 1/2 the size of our small town. :cheer2: Football games start at 7pm but if you want a seat or a parking spot you need to get there at 5:30-6pm. my kids could care less they got their candy on the 30th and not the 31st. Candy is Candy no matter what day it is. ;)
