Triceratop Spin Question

So, I've been stalking all the wait times on my iPhone for several days, and I've noticed that the wait time for TS has never been more than 8 minutes, despite unusually high crowd levels. I had been under the impression that there were often long lines at TS and that I needed to get there first thing in the morning. Am I wrong? I've planned my itinerary around this and if we don't need to be going to Dino-land first thing I'd rather do Africa first, as we have a mid-morning ADR at Donald's Breakfast. My kids are little, so we weren't planning to do Primeval Whirl OR Dinosaur BTW, just TS and the Boneyard (and probably back later for Nemo).

I have never heard of long lines at Triceratop Spin. When we went it was basically walk on both times.

Since it really is a "prehistoric" version of Dumbo, maybe the appeal isn't there for it as it is for Dumbo???

Don't know, but I wouldn't really worry about it, it is not a FP ride if I remember correctly. So your wait should be minimal.

I wonder if you are confusing Triceratop Spin with Toy Story Mania?
That ride is the one that everyone rushes to at rope drop. It is in DHS though.
TS vs TSM.....maybe you are confusing the 2.

I definitely wasn't confusing it with TSM, but maybe I was delusional nonetheless, and mixing it up with SOMETHING else. Not sure what I was thinking. But in any case I think that makes my planning earlier if we don't need to go there first.

Thanks!

Shouldn't need to worry about this one even in heavy crowds.

It's basically Dumbo (or aladins carpet) unpopular cousin with dinosaurs. A ride found in every carnival or amusement park not very disney unique. Went with DD at that time 4...rode it multiple times with little or no wait (she wanted to). The people who do this are usually not the one's running to EE! (LOL)...

never quite understood why Dumbo has hours of waiting...related to everyone's kid wanting to say they rode it...plus loading/unloading is relatively slow compared to other rides.

Don't anticipate huge waits on this one.

We have never had long wait times for this ride. Many times we get off and get back on only having to wait for one or two rides before we are on again.

No, the lines for this are not long. FOr some reason Dumbo does get long lines..but even there, there are FAR more worthwhile rides to run to at park opening. Dumbo lines often peak at about 30 minutes. I'd much rahter ride Aladdin's carpets witha ten minute wait than Dumbo with thirty.

A better bet at AK would be EE or the safari. But those are the truly big draws at AK. Dinosaur gets some traffic, but not as much as EE or the safari.

we were there in Nov and my son rode it 3 times and had the ride to himself this was about an hour after RD...it does not get anything like Dumbo...I have never seen it over 5 minutes....I have seen the carpets and astro orbitor get very long...basically same ride go figure

possibly you where mixing it up with primeval whirl???? i figure the reason the line for dumbo is so long is for the fact it's nostalgic. it's one of the few rides that has been there since the start. and along with it's great view of fantasyland many parents want there kids to experience true- old fashioned disney.

When we went in '08, the park was pretty busy. But my son & I pretty much just walked right on it.

There's hardly ever a line for it. Little kids can't ride it (unlike Dumbo where ANYBODY can ride it). I'm afraid of heights so I can't do it and dh gets motionsick and this sucker really spins.

What do you mean little kids can't ride? There's not a height requirement is there?

Kids can ride. It is exactly like Dumbo and there is no height requirement. Primeval Whirl, however, which is just across the way from TS has a height of 48 inches. Still, there is usually a wait for that (PW) in my experience.

Editing to add the link to the height requirement list on allears. http://allears.net/tp/rr.htm
